sorta f&b related..suggestion for walking shoes?

I asked in H&F but figured I'd ask you ladies too. I'm trying to lose weight and just started walking. I have no good shoes to walk in which causes me to cut my exercise short because my ankles tighten up so bad (even after stretching). Anyone have any suggestions for any good supporting walking shoes?

Also, I need some clothes to workout in that aren't gonna break the bank! Thanks ladies!

Re: sorta f&b related..suggestion for walking shoes?

  • I have a slightly wider foot, and I love New Balance. They are super comfy.

I prefer to workout in some thin cotton v neck t shirts from Target.. I got them on clearance for $5 something, and I wear them all the time (working out and also just for casual use). I got workout pants from Target as well and they're ok, but nothing great. My favorites are from Kohls, the brand is Trek or something and they've lasted me years.  GL with your weight loss!

  • I like New Balance and Asics for shoes. As for workout clothes, I am the fan of GapFit, mostly because I can get pants in ankle. Love their tanks and the relaxed gFit pants. I also have some UnderArmor capris that I really like.

  • I would walk in regular sneakers, not casual shoes that only look sporty.  My favorite sneakers are New Balance and I always get a higher number model (e.g., 1221) since the higher number represents more shock absorption or something like that.

For inexpensive workout clothing, try Target or Modell's.

  • I would go to a running store or athletic shoe store and get fitted for shoes that fit your foot type and stride.  We all have different feet and what works for us may not work for you, particularly if you already are having ankle issues.

For less expensive workout clothes, I like Old Navy.

  • Another one for New Balance. They did the measurements and everything pretty quickly for me in the store and I've loved my various pairs for years.
