Newt: Media is covering up "Obama's Muslim friends"
Gingrich said the media, which he believes is "in the tank for Obama," will "do anything that helps re-elect" the president.
"It is just astonishing to me how pro-Obama they are," Gingrich told Rios. "Do you think you are going to see two pages on Obama's Muslim friends? Or two pages on the degree to which Obama is consistently apologizing to Islam while attacking the Catholic church?"
"Do you see anybody in the elite media prepared to say, gee, isn't this kind of odd that we really worry a lot about the Quran and nothing about the Bible?" Gingrich asked, likely in reference to Obama's recent apology to Afghanistan after U.S. troops burned the Islamic religious text.

Who cares if Obama has Muslim friends? (I ask, knowing full well some ignorant assbackwards people out there probably really do.)
Like with Santorum, I am always shocked when I find out someone I know IRL supports him.
If I were the tinfoil hat wearing type I'd think that the GOP establishment wants him in the race as long as possible to say things like this (see also comments on Trayvon Martin), hitting the President below the the belt in particularly uncouth manners that Romney could not get away with.
I have gay friends, does that make me gay?
I think Newt's having an affair, and all of this crazy is an attempt to divert the eventual attention away from his awesome willingness to uphold the sanctity of marriage.
It's as plausible an explanation as anything else, no?

Interesting. If it wasn't Newt, I'd think it was more likely, but remembering him from back in the day...I think he's just arrogant, and honestly thought everyone would of course see the light and vote for him. Now that it's becoming painfully obvious it ain't going to happen he's lashing out in more and more childish ways.
