Remember the 14 year old who bought a house?

She saved her grandfathers life this week, too. A jerk who plays for the rays ran him over while in the process of collecting his third DUI. The grandfather had been babysitting willows younger sibling so she could do an interview. SHe told her grandpa to wear a helmet as he was leaving. It's the only reason he lived. Responsible girl all around ;)

  • Way to go Willow!

And can they please lock up the drunk driver?  Please and Thank You.

And so I say to you, you are Peter, and upon this Rock I will build my Church, and the gates of Hell shall not prevail against it.
  • She's awesome and I'm glad the drunk driver is in jail with no bond. How do you hit a motorcycle, run over a man's head, and not stop?!

  • And when I was 14, I was hanging out at the mall and obsessing over my crush...

Indeed.  I confess to being more than just a bit disappointed in my 14yo self. Embarrassed

This happened to someone I knew.  He was on a motorcycle (with no helmet!!!!!!) and someone hit him on an exit ramp.  He flew off the motorcycle, landed on this guy's driver's side windshield, and rolled off the side of his car.  The driver that hit him kept on going.  Somehow the guy survived.  He still rides without a helmet.  They caught the driver at least.  He was drunk and uninsured.

  • It's amazing what people will do for children, but not for adults.  I have a friend who is still with us today because he wore a helmet to set a good example for his little cousin.  Since the accident he had that day, that friend always wears a helmet, even if there isn't anyone else around to see.  I'm guessing that taking the helmet off in two pieces made a strong impression on his little cousin too.

However, this girl should be totally ashamed of herself for only saving her grandfather.  She should be spreading the word about helmets and drunk driving to everyone.  How lazy and selfish of her to keep helmets a secret that she only shares with her own family!  /sarcasm

  • I didn't realize that was her grandfather.  I was reading the article from the "other side" earlier today.  The driver was a #1 draft pick from Florida who had an exceedingly bright future in baseball...if only he could put the bottle down.  He was in a pretty bad accident in '09 with hit-and-run and all kinds of good video of him blubbering, and the Rays gave him a chance because he cleaned up.  He's apparently not so clean.  And there goes another life down the crapper.
