These are my before pictures. My face freaked out about one month into using Retin-A, and I had this red, raw skin from my eyes down to my jaw line on both sides of my face. It was nasty looking. I also had really bad peeling skin by my mouth. My skin looked like this for a good week, then I got my order of Neova Night Therapy in the mail, which contains copper peptides. CPs have been proven to speed up the healing process for wounds, and studies also show that they heal UV damage. They can be used daily for anti-aging, or just after procedures that injure the skin, like chemical peels, microdermabrasion, etc., and then for anything on the face that needs to heal like a sunburn, irritation, etc.
I always have PIP issues and it won't let me do my after pic in this post, so I'll do a second post in this thread with my after pic.
These are pictures of my cheek, with the red ending at my jawline.
Re: Those curious about copper peptides before and after PIP
My skin looked like the above before pics when I got the Neova in the mail. I used it that night after cleansing my skin, and was disappointed because it didn't feel particularly nice or very moisturizing. I applied it liberally. In the morning, I was seriously shocked at how the redness on my skin was nearly gone. It had probably cleared the redness on my face about 80%. After one more night of use, my skin was completely back to normal. This pic was taken just two days after the before pics. I am wearing tinted moisturizer in this pic (which is obviously the wrong color), but even with a bare face the redness was completely gone.
I'm in love with this stuff and it's definitely a HG product for me. It's somewhat pricey, but one of the few expensive products that I think is worth the money.
Wow I can't believe retin a caused that?!!
Yeah, I know. I do admit that I was way too gung ho with the Retin-A, starting with .05% and using it daily. What was weird, though, was that I had peeling but no irritation for several weeks. Then all the sudden my skin got crazy red. My skin has totally adjusted to the Retin-A after this incident, though, and I don't even peel.
When the Retin-A did that to your skin, why didn't you stop using Retin-A??!!
The permanent makeup and now this...aye yi yi!
OP--In your after photo, the skin on your cheeks still look a little reddish but not sure if that's all blush or other makeup? Your before shots look extremely painful. Your derm should have told you to start off small and let your skin build up its tolerance, a little at a time.
I'm curious, how old are you?

In the after photo I have on a tinted moisturizer and a very light pink tinted highlighter on my cheeks, but not a blush. My skin has pretty strong pink undertones and I also have mild rosacea, so I'm always pink. The derm told me to start using the Retin-A every other night and if my skin did okay, to move to every night (or to do every third night at first if I had irritation). Then we'd move to a stronger strength. I only skipped one night of the Retin-A, but since my skin seemed totally fine with it, I went to every night. Obviously a mistake, but for an entire month of use I had only some peeling and my skin seemed to tolerate it fine, and the redness came on very suddenly. The redness actually was not painful and looked way worse than it felt, and of course I wasn't putting Retin-A on that irritated skin. As soon as I used the Neova, the irritation stopped and my skin has been fine with daily Retin-A use ever since - which has been about two more months now. I'm 32.
