Hypothetical himym question.

If they revealed the mom tomorrow would you stop watching the show or continue watching their story unfold?

Re: Hypothetical himym question.

  • I would prefer they introduce the mom tomorrow. I would definitely keep watching and likely have more interest.  I agree with a PP from one of the other posts  that they could easily pull off at least a season of "How I Proposed to Your Mother".

  • I'd be more likely to continue watching if they revealed the mom. I'm getting bored with the show.

It would make sense for them to show Ted and the mother dating and falling in love, etc. After all this build-up, to just say "and that's how I met your mother, the end", would be a bit of a let down.

This. I'd actually love to see him and the mom dating and getting engaged.

  • They've always said that the mom won't be revealed until the end of the series.  But now that they are dragging the series out, it is getting really old.

Agreed.  I hate how they are dragging things out and wasting our time with useless storylines like Ted redeclaring his love for Robin.

Really, I don't care who the mother is.  I just want Barney and Robin to get married and then I'll be happy.  Smile

  • I really wish they would introduce the mom.  I would keep watching.  I'd be ok if Ted and the mom broke up once or twice before he proposes.  I am also getting very bored with this show.  I know it's a hit, but come on already!!!

This and give Barney and Robin their own show.  I love Neil Patrick Harris in this role.  I'd love to see what the writers could do with a couple like them in a spinoff.
  • I would stop watching if she and Ted/Josh Radnor had awful chemistry, or if their stories weren't interesting.

Mainly I want to see how all the puzzle pieces fit together to make her and Ted meet (the umbrella, Barney's wedding, her being in his Columbia class). I don't really care who she is.

Also, I want to see what makes The Mother better than Robin, because Robin has been Ted's ideal woman for the whole series thus far. Hopefully it's not just because The Mother said yes and Robin said no. If Robin suddenly changed her mind and told Ted she loves him, what would make Ted pick The Mother over the girl he's been chasing for seven years?

What I want to see is what makes The Mother so special. I don't want to meet her in the last 10 seconds of the series and just get a voiceover saying that he's finally met the love of his life. I want to see what makes her so perfect for him. I don't think the little hints we've gotten so far (she plays bass, sings to her breakfast, paints robots) are enough to convince me that she's better than Robin.

Maybe that the mother wants kids and a family and Robin has always adamantly said she doesn't?  That's a big difference in life, and definitely a reason to pick the mother over Robin.

Yes, I'd definitely keep watching after they find the mother.  I'm so bored with Ted, his storylines suck.  Maybe him pursuing the mother will bring back the fun of the original show.

I agree, but that'd disappoint me if that was all there was. I think it would cheapen his marriage if he's only with the Mother because she agreed to have kids and Robin didn't.
