There is stretch of road that I run on every day that is really busy. The speed limit is 30, but i promise no one does 30. There is no shoulder, and no sidewalk.
Yesterday alone I almost got hit twice. (one of them was my dad, he needs a lecture).. Lots of people walk in the road as it's the only way out of our neighborhood. Kids, people walking dogs, Shrimpers who live in the area walk to the shrimp boats.
I've been thinking about writing someone about putting a side walk in. Who do I contact? Obviously the county, but what department?
Has anyone ever written to their county/state about new sidewalks? Response?
There is a store where I could park and run from there (The sidewalk starts at the store), but this stretch of road with no sidewalk equals a mile of my run. I know a mile isn't a lot, but there is only 2.25 miles out & back that I can before I have to start doing loops. GOSH, if we ever move i'm looking at running routes prior to agreeing on a new house (ha!)
