MH and i separated in sept and I tried to do the mortgage on my own. I just couldnt do it.. I am now four months behind and they are saying I am in foreclosure review.. I just don't know that I can keep the house on 45K a year:( I haven't even gone to court yet and am getting no type of child support yet. he has been paying utlities thankfully.
I am trying to get a modification because if they drop my monthly mortgage I may be able to swing it.. I just don't want my credit and name ruined for 7 years and to end up in an apartment.. My daughter is at a wonderful school two blocks away. I feel like I am throwing everything I have accomplished out the window. but deep down I am not truly happy.. i just don't know how happy I will be when i don't have a plave to live.. anyone else go through this?? I am so depressed
Re: Anyone else lose house due to divorce?
You might want to contact your local child support agency and attorney. My mom was able to get child support through the child support agency while they were separated before they even filed for divorce.
You can also contact local social service agencies in your area. We have a couple that specifically help people in risk of foreclosure from losing their home.
Why isn't your ex helping you with the mortgage? Is his name on the mortgage as well?
And why haven't you gone to court and filed for child support? Google the child support calculators for your state. That should give you a number to start with. He can start paying that to you immediately and that is likely to give you some breathing room.
I'm sorry you are having these stresses.
I think divorce laws vary a lot state to state. Is your H's name on the house and/or mortgage? Have you met with a divorce lawyer? If you haven't, you should, right away.
I went to one on Friday who charged me $200 for the initial consult, but a lot of them give one consultation appointment for free. Have you looked into refinancing the house to lower the monthly payment?
I guess I need more information about the specifics of your situation...
Have you been paying on it at all, or did you just stop paying entirely? If you've been trying to pay and fell behind maybe the bank will work with you. If not, I don't see why they would (or should).
You should go to MM with your budget and see if they can help. And call your attorney, your H should be paying on the house too if he is on the mortgage.
