Swiffer vs. Rubbermaid Reveal

Anyony have any thought on the Swiffer vs. Rubbermaid Reveal? It would be used on a wood laminate flooring.

FI and I have both owned a swiffer before, I wasn't a fan because I didn't think it cleaned well enough, FI loved his. Now I see the Reveal has the reusable/washable pads and you can use your own solution..

Thoughts?

Re: Swiffer vs. Rubbermaid Reveal

  • My swiffer is fine for short little clean ups. I don't mind it but I also use a microfiber cloth on it and it's so much better.

I had a rubbermaid reveal and the thing sucked. The handle broke in six months. It cleaned well enough but it was sooo big and clunky it never got corners well and was hard to work.

I now have the Libman version and that thing is sweet! It's lighter, the pads are better and just all around more user friendly.

  • Eh, I love my Reveal. 80% of my house is carpeted, so it's perfect for me. I didn't really find it to be bulky, and I've never had issues with it. I like that you can refill it with whatever you want, and the cloth is washable.
  • Thank you!!

  • I have a Swiffer, Rubbermaid Reveal, and a Shark.  The Swiffer is horrible IMO (granted I don't have the one that sprays, just the one that uses wet cloths), the pads hardly cover any area before drying out and the cleaner streaks my floor.  I used to use the Rubbermaid religiously but on our high gloss laminate eventually the Lysol/water cleaner I used in it was streaking.  I now use my Shark for actual mopping and only use the Rubbermaid for in between cleanings with plain water.  If you don't have high gloss laminate I would go with the Rubbermaid definitely.  My 1st Rubbermaid broke as well but I called the company and they sent me a $25 coupon to buy a new one.
  • I use the Rubbermaid Reveal on my laminate w/ water mixed with vinegar and I love it!  It makes mopping so simple and by the time I finish, the other half of the kitchen is already dry.

  • I love my Rubbermaid. I use it all the time. My apartment is mostly carpet, so it is perfect for the small amount that I need to use it. I have never had problems with my Rubbermaid. I don't really care for Swiffer. I have used the swiffers that just have the pads and I have used the Swiffer WetJet, I don't really care for them. I don't think that they clean as well and quite frankly they are really expensive. I hope this helps you make a decision.
