What's your favorite way...
to cook a whole chicken? I'm thinking crockpot but I'm not really sure the best way to do it. Recipes? Ideas? TIA.

Purchasing it roasted for $5 at Costco
It's about the only thing I prefer to buy prepared. They just do such a good job, and I so rarely eat chicken. It's not worth my time perfecting it when the cost is about the same.

mmmm mmmm--- I've made it for several dinner parties and it's always a big hit!
Thanks ladies!
Sibil, E loves the Costco ones but I'm really trying to do as much as we can at home, and he has class 3 nights a week so if I do one at home one night he can have it in different capacities through out the week for lunches and dinners.
Tell me more Lemon. What all do you put in with it? Do you make stock from it after?
Yup, I always throw some lemon, garlic and herbs in the cavity, s&p the skin with a little butter or oil and roast. But nothing beats Sam's Club rotisserie...
I've done crock pot (for a whole chicken), but I think we prefer an oven roasted chicken. It's not hard to oven roast, but you can't leave it and ignore it like you can with a crock pot.
I think oven roasted makes for a much richer stock from the leftovers, too. (yes, I am that much of a food geek - I make stock from the carcass of any bone-in meat that we cook, and then make yummy soup/stew with it - great use for some of the leftover meat, too)
