We went to Ikea and REI in Charlotte today and are on our way back. Part of the drive back is on a small highway in the country. DH and I were just chatting about the upcoming dance when he interrupted me with: "Wth is that?" Just as he said it, I saw them. A group of maybe 8 adults in white floor-length hooded cloaks with the hoods pulled up in someone's backyard. The next several minutes were full of "Was that...no...wait, wtmf just happened...there's no way."
It was 7ish so dusk, but still pretty light out. Are we crazy and jumping to conclusions or do you think we really just saw a meeting?
Also I'm on DHs iPhone and I've never posted from here so I'm sorry if the formatting is wonky.
Re: Tell me we didn't see what we think we just saw
This.
My aunt's father was KKK and he really didn't care about much.
I really hope that's not what you saw but I think it might be.
Wow. I always thought the meetings were done more secretly. Guess my ignorance is showing. I still can't believe we saw it though. I'm really sad this sh!t even still happens, but for some reason it pisses me off even more that it's done for everyone to see. Like they're flaunting it, I guess.
Yeah its very sad that this still goes on. And its not your ignorance, its the members of the KKK's ignorance.
My dad said when he first met my aunt, keep in mind this was probably close to 40+ years ago she was awfully judgmental because of the way she grew up. You wouldn't know this now if you talked to her/
This. When I was stationed in Mississippi (about 10 years ago) the KKK announced they would be making an appearance downtown one day, so military members were not allowed in that area during that time period. Like OP though, before that I didn't think they were so public anymore.
Dude, really? There are several klans near our hometowns.
Ignorance is bliss!
But no, I was just saying in a P&CE thread about Trayvon Martin that c*** is definitely not some old, unused word. I heard it all the time growing up and I know people there that still use it and the n-word on the regular.
Idk. I *heard* about klans back home, but it was always so and so knows so and so who dated so and so who has a cousin that once knew that another so and so's cousin was in it. I guess I just put on my see-no-evil glasses and thought it wasn't actually true.
I know what you mean. I didn't really believe it either until my last job with the state police and found out there is some validity to it.
