First night in our apartment!

We are signing an expat contract to stay in China for at least a year. We picked out an apartment and this week they finalized all of our requests so tonight we moved in. On one hand I am super excited to have my own space, my own kitchen, my own bed, and the ability to settle into a "normal" life (not to mention the added bonus of spending my week shopping for the apartment Smile). On the other hand I am a bit nervous because we had a huge support system at the hotel we were at. Everyone knew us by name and most of them spoke English really well, so if I ever needed help it was easy. I think it's time for me to kick my Chinese lessons up a notch!

Just wanted to share. Thanks for reading. :)

I think it probably has something to do with the never ending building that goes on here. High-rise apartments as far as the eye can see - with 50% or less occupancy in each building. Not sure how long the landlord was looking for renters, but judging by their willingness to comply, I'd say a while.

  • Are you getting an ayi! I want an ayi. XH never let me have an ayi. Crying

As of right now it's sort of up for debate. It seems kind of silly to me since I'm not working while I'm here. So I don't know if it's necessary. My local friend however couldn't believe when I said we weren't and then she told me how cheap they are, so maybe I'll change my mind. Would sure be nice!

It's more like a housekeeper. They clean, cook, shop, do laundry, watch the kids... Whatever you want!
