How was your weekend? I miss Muddled, when is she due back?
This weekend I realized that I am not as young as I used to be. We waited in line for 2 hours just to get into the bar and then had to wait another 5 hours to see the band we were there to see - surrounded by wasted 20 years olds pushing and shoving everywhere. My patience was zero and by the end of the night my legs were weak from standing and I felt sick from being trapped in a tiny club that was jam packed for 5+ hours. The Avett Brothers were hella awesome though. We did get to see 4 other bands perform before them and two of them turned out to be pretty good.
I also got some more of Watership Down read, but not nearly as much as I had hoped. I better get on it the next few days for Friday!
Re: Monday Say Anythings
Weekend was pretty boring. Our lives have become centered around our puppy. We need to stop that!
It's F'ing cold at work today. 53 degrees when I got here at 6:30 and it hasn't warmed up at all. Everyone is walking around with coats and gloves on. My mouse hand is numb. I'm contemplating pouring coffee on my hands.
I would looove to see the Avett Brothers, especially in a small setting like that.
I'm fooking sick of people who go to see a movie adaptation of a book and exclaim "the book was better". NO SHYT THE BOOK WAS BETTER! 1. They have 2 hours to cram a story into that took you a week to read, 2. Your imagination can make anything happen... a director is handcuffed by basic laws of physics.
I tend to find that people that say this are people who are trying to impress you that they read. And most of the time, I know for a fact that this was most likely the only book this person read this entire fooking year. So no, I'm NOT impressed.
And the whole "Captain Obvious"-esqueness of the statement pisses me of. The movie is NEVER better than the book. Do we STILL have to keep saying it?!

It was pretty awesome - only 250 people at the venue!
We had a quiet weekend. It was lovely. Now I'm in bed with a migraine. Effing weather changes.
I may have mentioned on here that I'm an alum adviser to my sorority. It provides a sampling of the naming trends of the early 1990s, which fascinates me. It's still too early for the Madisons and Michaelas to hit college in any great number, but the Kaitlyns and Kaylas have shown up in force. It's also heartening to see so many normal names and anything "unique" is still recognizable as a name (i.e., Mariah). The one trend that has taken hold is the male names for females thing, but I'm relatively certain that's because this is the South. We've got a Tyler, a Kyle, a Ryan, and a Kirby. A couple of years ago there was a Carson. They all have good attitudes about it though. Tyler is still tickled that she was placed in a male dorm her freshman year. If I'm still around for the Neveahs and Khlo'Es I may shoot myself though.
My random is that I'm leaving Joaquin with H to go shopping for Easter stuff tomorrow and I'm super excited about it. And I hate shopping. Lol.

Imoan - did you like the movie?
We watched the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo this weekend. I liked it, but it was hard to get beyond some of the disturbing parts at the beginning.
My weekend was boring, it was full of working out and homework.
I am annoyed with one of my classes because I have to write a paper comparing and analyzing at least 3 of Hamlet's "to be or not to be" soliloquy's, i am bored with this class and this assignment seems rather boring because all of these that he gave us to choose from kind of suck. Plus I despise writing for literature type of classes but looooove science writing, I am officially a freak.
I absolutely LOVED it! They did change a bunch of stuff- but every single thing, I felt, was done to enhance the trilogy as a whole. A lot of the things that were changed just HAD to be changed (as it would be near impossible to have certain things happen given that they had 2 hours). And everything they changed, I actually REALLY liked the alternative. The changes all had a certain kind of poetry to them that just enhanced the telling of the story. I'm going to punch people who say you didn't get as much of Katniss' feelings. The entire fooking book was her INNER MONOLOGUE! So how are you going to do that in a movie without it being super cheesy. I thought the movie was a PERFECT adaptation of the book!
*MOVIE SPOILER*
I LOVED that they had Seneca Crane highlighted in this movie, even though he wasn't really a character in the first book. I loved being able to see behind-the-scenes into the control room at the Capitol where they determined what happened in the arena... and how Seneca managed all of that. And Seneca Crane had me TOTALLY turned on. I never would've thought. But his attitude and the way he walked and stuff... swoon. And then I found out that the guy who plays Seneca Crane (Wes Bentley) is the same guy who was the "It's the most beautiful thing I've ever seen" plastic bag, video camera guy in American Beauty and it totally blew my mind.

I know that I most lurk because by the time I get here, TIP has all of the reply-bases covered thoroughly, but I haven't been around for the last couple of weeks and have missed my TIP.
*hugs TIP*
Thank you for making me feel nooooooormal.
I've been kinda MIA lately because work is going off the rails and coworker bff (she of the preferential work from home treatment) is leaving at the end of the week for her new setup and I anticipate taking on a lot of her responsibilities.
I need to read the Hunger Games books and will be buying them here dirt cheap: http://hip2save.com/2012/03/25/kobo-com-the-hunger-games-series-ebooks-only-3-06-includes-ebooks-1-3/
A friend of mine is being super judgy about children specifically her 3 year old vs the little dude - behavior and personality wise. Just because her kid is totally compliant and never pushes his limits doesn't make the little dude bad for being independent and smart enough to try and get away with stuff. It makes him more challenging to raise, but not a bad kid, and I'd rather have a kid who's smart enough to pull shiit than a kid who blindly follows everything I say. /rant
I knew he looked familiar!!! I loved his beard. I was fascincated by it. I really liked the role of the other people who controlled the game. I didnt' really get a good picture of how they were manipulating the environment from the book - so it was fun to see it simplified.
Aw! You missed me!
I am irrationally mad that I missed the nice weather and came home to cold. Even when my face was melting off last week, I never missed the cold.
Speaking of melted faces, you know those TLC shows with the crazy titles like "The Man with the Melted Face"? I totally saw one of those guys on the train 2 days ago.
