So we put an offer in on a house this weekend. We ended up not getting it because they won't take anything less than full asking price and we think their house is over-priced even at what we were offering. Anyway, when we were there Saturday, the owner was there. My H was talking to her outside for a bit and he asked why they were moving. She went into this big story about how her H had open heart surgery and they needed to downsize.
So today, after the back and forth, their agent tells my agent that they are selling because they are getting a divorce and they won't even speak to each other. He has to call them separately and then call them back with what the other says.
I think we dodged a bullet.

Re: TIP in house hunting
Yep, considering we thought they were overpriced anyway. Oh well.
So she was hoping you'd feel sorry for her and wouldn't try to negotiate on the price. What a lying cunnt.
Ooooooh maybe! I was trying to figure out why she would make up a story like that instead of just saying they want a smaller house or something.
We didn't have the crazy divorce story but we had the crazy single guy who was litterally missing a few... He wouldn't go down on the price at all but we loved the house so much we said we'd pay the full asking, and after all the hard work, and the money for the appraisel, and all (about $1500.00 and the loss of the $8000.00 mortgage grant) he back out because we need a week extension because we were out of the state when he was FINALLY ready to sign the papers. If he would have just signed those damn papers when he was suppose to we would have signed them when we were suppose to and we would have had the house and wouldn't have lost out on all that money (no i'm not bitter
) But now we have a great house, things happen for a reason! Just keep looking!!
