Race this weekend - not signed up

There's a race this Sunday that I just found out about. I'm interested in running it because it's a course near my house that I'd like to run in the future - the race would help me get acclimated with the area, etc. Entry fee would be $30 (a little steep, but that's because I missed the online entry cut off - the race was $11 if you registered before today.) Online entry is closed, so I'd have to show up the day of and hope for a spot.

Anyone have experience with this? Do you think my chances of getting in are good?

  • I would call and see if they are still doing reg.  They might have had the cut off for shirts or whatever but still might get you in.
  • If they offer race day registration, then I'm pretty sure they'll take you.

  • Go for it.  The only time I haven't been able to register the day of is when the race is on national park service land in DC (for some reason they can't collect $$ on park service land)
  • Thanks, ladies. I don't really care about getting a shirt (usually the race shirts are swimming on me because they only offer men's sizes), I just wanted to try the course. I would call, but can't find a number.

I was just looking at the online reg. page and it mentions something about teams (Men 50+, Women 40+) and team rosters being completed 1/2 hour prior to race. I'm assuming that doesn't apply to me. If anything, I'll have DH drive and if I can't participate in the race, I'll tell him to leave me there and I'll run home (which is about 4miles - as long as the race.)

  • It's frustrating they don't specify race day reg, but I honestly think you'll be fine. I think I wait to register onsite for about 90% of the races I do. GL!
