My MIL is a Director of Nursing at a nursing home. The past two jobs (at least three years each) that DH has had was because he went to work for the facility where MIL is the DON. The first place she had worked at for like, 20 years, and he was hired on in '05. A new CEO came in and cleaned house, MIL and DH were fired in '09. In February '10 DH went to work for another nursing home where MIL had been hired as the DON. That's where he works now. Due to some backstabbery (the backstabby people ended up getting fired later), MIL was fired from where DH works now sometime last year. She worked somewhere in between, but within the past month, got a new job as a DON at a really nice facility.
My MIL told DH that her new place really needs a good IT guy. It's a nicer place than where he works now, and if he leaves his current job, he'd have the leverage to negotiate more pay.
He's going to possibly be doing some consulting work for them first, but he's very good at what he does, so they would probably hire him after that. So we'll see what happens. But the worst that can happen is that he stays where he is, and that really isn't that bad.
The only thing that kinda concerns me is that if he were to change jobs, we might have 90 days of no insurance, which could be bad as we are TTC soon. So we'll see what happens, I'll keep you updated.
