sports bra chafing - help!

I chafe VERY easily and I already bodyglide half my body. But my sports bra chafing seems to be getting worse lately. I chafe the worst right under the rib cage band, right in the middle. I already put a large bandaid over the area, but on my 12 miler last weekend, it did nothing and I have a long cut there. I've tried other sports bras (I'm well endowed) and they create worse problems, so I'm really looking to fix the chafing and not the bra. I've got my 22 miler this weekend, so all suggestions welcome!!

TIA!

Re: sports bra chafing - help!

  • This is kind of out there and I haven't tried it on rib cage chafing, but I like to put a strip of duct tape over my heals if I wear shoes that give me heal blisters. I wonder if that would work?

  • How long have your had your sportsbras? The chafing might be due to them being on the older and stretchier side, and not fitting your ladies snugly anymore. Also have you tried bodygliding the band of your sportsbra, instead of your body in that area?

  • as a well endowed lady, I will tell you that if you want to fix the chafing you need to fix the bra.

how old is the bra?  was it working for you up until this point?  I know it's time to replace my sports bras when I start to get chafing from them.

    this.

i had chafing so bad, my boobs were bleeding for a week.  putting my regular bra on to go to work was so painful, i almost called in sick.

replacing the sports bras took care of that, toute suite.

FWIW, i am a 36DD, and i am swearing by moving comfort brand bras.  i buy the off-color ones from weird sites, like sierra trading post, and they are way cheaper that way.  i don't care what color they are, so long as they get the job done!

Second this!  Aside from changing sports bras-I also put deodorant on my body where the bra band goes.

  • also...take off that bra the MOMENT you get in the door from your run, and dry the area.  i've found that helps quite a bit.

while you wait for it to heal, some sort of powder might help.  i used the monistat anti-chafing powder, and it really did wonders for me.

  • Oh noes...that sucks :(  Would Vaseline help at all (in addition to the Bodyglide)?

    This. All of it.

  • ThighGlide.us  They are body wraps worn like a bandaid. Depending on where you chafe they give you 3 in every Tube for $9.56 on sale. I cut mine into 6 sometimes 10 for different parts of my body. I wear 1 between my legs and 1 on my right side bra strap. They are great. I don't know if they are still doing it but if you send them a blog or Youtube video they give you 20% off. They also have a guys version called ChafeAway
  • thanks for the suggestions everyone! and this is actually a brand new bra. This style has always chafed me in this spot, but it's worse on this one for some reason. I tried a Moving Comfort bra too, and it chafed me much worse in a different spot, and it's really hard to get on and off. Seriously, I've tried a lot of bras, and I just chafe super easily. I don't think I could run a marathon without chafing somewhere. Thanks!
