S/O HG Over-analysts - 31 differences between book and movie
http://ohnotheydidnt.livejournal.com/67650092.html#cutid1
I know you guys had mentioned some of them in the other thread, but apparently there's 31 total.
I just re-read the book this weekend since it's been over a year since I read it. I'm supposed to go see it tomorrow and I am beyond excited!

Photo bomb, yeah!
I pretty much agree with the article. I really did like that they put in the parts (in the movie) of president snow and the gamemaker control room. Number 10 & 18 in the article.
I also agree with 23 where they in the book district 11 sends Katniss bread after the scene with Rue and in the movie it doesn't exist.
All in all I can't wait until the other movies.

This exactly.
I agree, just thought it was interesting. I haven't seen the movie yet but I don't think anything will affect it that much. I know a lot of people were upset with The Help too but I thought that was really good anyways.
I'm pretty sure Rue only pointed the hive out. I just re-read the book yesterday so I was fresh going into the movie. She points it out so that Katniss doesn't disturb it, but she never mentions dropping it on the careers.
I hadn't heard the rumor that there would be 3 more movies (4 total right?). That makes me excited and I hope it is true.
Did you find someone to see it with?
67/200
Yes! Kara from MB who posts here sometimes too is gonna go with me. I was fully prepared to go by myself though because I just want to see it!
Man, this happens every time a popular book is made into a movie. I am with KC, although I haven't seen it yet, I really don't care what has changed that much. I know that the author helped write the screenplay, so I trust that the quality of the story wasn't compromised that much.
I really liked some of the alterations. The pace a movie has to keep is very different than a book. Plus, you don't have someone's thoughts as narrator, so I thought they were quite creative in showing Katniss' thoughts through things like Haymitch's notes and the gamemaker's control room.
A few things bothered me, like the lack of strategy talk. And I really think they missed some good Haymitch characterization opportunities (woody harrelson would have rocked the hell out of drunken stumbling on stage).
Overall, though, I have hope that some of the things they left out were to have more room to develop the other movies. The 2nd and especially 3rd book got weaker, and the characters were flat and stale by then.
I hope so. I really hope they build more into their story after. It was super intense and then just bam, she's at her house years later with the guy the chose. That was probably my least favorite thing about the books. After 3 books of buildup and being torn about Peeta and Gale she just end it all in like 3 pages. I hope they elaborate in the movie.

I had read the books but well over 6 months+ ago. I'm so glad that I hadn't recently read them to compare against the movie.
I saw the movie a 2nd time on Sunday and I still enjoyed it as much as the first time. I can't wait to see how well they make movie #2.
I just said this on MB! I totally agree, I was far less picky. I only missed the Avox story line, but I'm sure they'll get into it later.
I just saw it, and definitely wasn't bothered by most of the parts left out. The only thing that I wish they would have kept in is District 11 sending Katniss the bread after Rue's death, since it showed that the other districts were starting to like her. I feel like showing the rioting didn't give that effect at all.
Other than, I really liked how they did the movie, and really liked all the scenes of the game makers. Even after reading the book twice it gave me a little more clarity of how and why the game makers did things, like the fire.
