What would you get? (shopping list)
So I have one paycheck left, we're a month ahead on most things, I want to go and do a big grocery shopping trip to stock up on things so we can eat at home. But I don't want to get a ton of things that will go bad and have to buy more of. I will stock up on frozen meat at costco. We have a ton of canned tomatoes and frozen veggies, quinoa, black beans, pinto beans, and almonds. I have basic kitchen staples and spices. What else would you stock up on? Should I just get as much canned stuff as we can fit? We don't have a ton of freezer space but quite a bit of pantry space. What would you get?

Re: What would you get? (shopping list)
I keep the ingredients on hand for simple crock pot meals, so the canned goods that go into cowboy stew (that one's good even without meat), and salsa and taco seasoning for salsa chicken or pork chops or lentil nachos. We also keep oats and dried fruit on hand for breakfast or homemade granola bars.
It sounds like you're pretty well stocked though, so you could probably get by on what you've got.
It is. But I'd rather stock up on groceries now while we have the money so we have a bit more breathing room knowing we don't have to get anything. Does that make sense?
Are lentils easy to make? I'm going to have nothing but time soon so I guess I could give them a go. We do have oats, I should get some fruit. DH likes those fruit cups in the natural juice.
I guess we really just need meat, we have some chicken but other than that it is just frozen pizzas.
It sounds like you don't need much.
I like to keep canned tomato sauce on hand for adding to things or making sloppy joes' from scratch. Pasta and rice and other grains if you use them.
Tortillas! Good call!
Interesting. I will definitely try them, I'm just always scared of the new things.
