Happy Tuesday! Happy first day of being (mostly) unemployed for me. Oh, I have plans for the next couple of weeks and I have a good lead on a job. At least I have extra time to run/exercise and do all those things I keep saying I am going to do.
What event are you training for/date?
What does your training schedule look like for the week?
Any injuries or problems?
Highlights from last week?
We've seen a bunch of new people in the last couple of weeks (new people, feel free to chime in if you are training for something). What do advice do you have for someone just starting on a H&F journey?

We've seen a bunch of new people in the last couple of weeks (new people, feel free to chime in if you are training for something). What do advice do you have for someone just starting on a H&F journey?
Find something you enjoy and remember it is tough but you can stick with it! Everyone has an off day where they don't want to exercise or eat too much junk. Start fresh tomorrow, don't beat yourself up!
Freestyle. Tell us something random!
I am making Shephard's Pie tonight and I am beyond excited. MMMMM, I make the world's best SP!

What does your training schedule look like for the week? Pretty laid back a rest week because of my half marathon on Sunday. Tues: swim easy, Wed: spin easy on bike 45 min. Thurs: run easy 3, Fri: swim, Sat: I'm not sure!
Any injuries or problems? I'm just super sore from Sunday.
Highlights from last week? half marathon PR!!
We've seen a bunch of new people in the last couple of weeks (new people, feel free to chime in if you are training for something). What do advice do you have for someone just starting on a H&F journey? You've got to make an exercise schedule for yourself. You have to make goals. You have to find something you enjoy doing or you won't want to continue!
Freestyle. Tell us something random! Three more months left of school and then summer break! Let the countdown begin!
What event are you training for/date? sadly, my training season is over until I have the baby. I hate not having a set schedule so I made one anyways. :-)

W- 7 miles

Sat- 9 miles easy
Sun- cross train & strength train

Highlights from last week? ran my last pregnancy race. Dh & I ran a half marathon on sunday. it was his first half and longest run. he didn't even train! he was coming off an 8 week running hiatus due to injury too! My dad ran this race (and PR-ed!!), my mom walked the 5K, all my running group friends were there running the half, it was just an overall fantastic day. A great way to end my racing season. well, until I have the baby and get back at it this summer!! :-)
We've seen a bunch of new people in the last couple of weeks (new people, feel free to chime in if you are training for something). What do advice do you have for someone just starting on a H&F journey? find something you love to do! you want working out to be enjoyable...most of the time. Of course you want it to be hard and to push yourself but make it something you do not dread doing!
Freestyle. Tell us something random! I was really excited to be passing so many people on Sunday during the half. even though I was not "racing" it, it still gave me that feeling as if I was. I miss running hard and racing.

Highlights from last week? I ran 9 miles for the first time since October!
We've seen a bunch of new people in the last couple of weeks (new people, feel free to chime in if you are training for something). What do advice do you have for someone just starting on a H&F journey? Pick something that you enjoy doing. Exercise is not fun (or sustainable) if you loathe doing it every day.
Freestyle. Tell us something random! It is my 2 year wedding anniversary today! DH and I are going to this amazing steakhouse tonight and taking the day off tomorrow so we can just hang out. I am beyond excited. Also, we are considering moving to Minneapolis, I have a job opportunity with my company there.
GO! St. Louis Half Marathon-2:32:13
Omaha Half Marathon 9.23.12
What event are you training for/date? GW Parkway Classic 10 mile with DH, but I'm just doing it for fun since I will be running with DH who is at a slower pace.
What does your training schedule look like for the week? I'm starting the Hal Hidgon Spring Training plan next week, this is another in-between week
M- off
T- 3 miles
W- maybe weights
Th- 5 miles
F- rest for the rest of the weekend since I'm going out of town, will be too busy to workout probably.
Any injuries or problems? Mentally, I'm feeling a little off/unmotivated/burnt out. I guess I feel like I lost my momentum.
Also, I'm a little bummed that DH and I are going to VA Beach for Labor Day weekend, but I think he is going to be only one able to run the half. It will just be too difficult to find a sitter. But I still need to look into it.
Highlights from last week? Nothing too exciting, just getting used to run in the warmer temperatures.
We've seen a bunch of new people in the last couple of weeks (new people, feel free to chime in if you are training for something). What do advice do you have for someone just starting on a H&F journey? Start by eliminating a few key foods that are just empty calories (i.e. soda, candy, pizza). Just don't buy them. Make your lunch everyday.
Freestyle. Tell us something random! DH and I watched the first half of Mad Men last night and then last night I had a Don Draper sex dream.

We've seen a bunch of new people in the last couple of weeks (new people, feel free to chime in if you are training for something). What do advice do you have for someone just starting on a H&F journey? Have fun in what you do and make it a lifestyle change rather than a bikini ready summer plan in 2 weeks...

What event are you training for/date? Glass City HM in Toledo OH, April 22nd
What does your training schedule look like for the week? Yesterday was 5 miles easy (supposed to be 4...oops), today is more of the same, tomorrow is what I think is supposed to be 10 Yasso 800's plus 1 mile warm up and 1 mile cooldown (blerg), Thursday rest/crosstrain, Friday 3 miles easy, Saturday 11 miles, Sunday rest/crosstrain/probably yoga.
Any injuries or problems? ::knocks on wood:: not really! I had a sore knee for a couple of weeks after what turned out to be my only really snowy run, but nothing since.
Highlights from last week? Um...a good long run in my new Brooks Pure Cadences. LOVE THEM!
We've seen a bunch of new people in the last couple of weeks (new people, feel free to chime in if you are training for something). What do advice do you have for someone just starting on a H&F journey? Find something you love...you don't HAVE to run/cycle/swim/whatever. If you don't enjoy it, you won't be motivated to do it!
Freestyle. Tell us something random! This chronic avoider of the H&F baby water will likely be going off the pill in September. Lord help us all.
What event are you training for/date? Colorado Marathon, 5/6
What does your training schedule look like for the week? T-5m, W-8m & body pump, Th-5m, F-rest, Sa-19m, S-outside time
Any injuries or problems? Just my stupid knee. My PT has me taping my kneecap back in place and it feels GOOD.
Highlights from last week? My new 5K PR and age group win!
We've seen a bunch of new people in the last couple of weeks (new people, feel free to chime in if you are training for something). What do advice do you have for someone just starting on a H&F journey? BE PATIENT. It took at least two months of working out and eating well for me to see results that were what I wanted. It was so hard to stay focused, but if you do, the rewards are SO worth it! Also, remember to build in the things you love - there's no need to give up all the food you enjoy, you just have to reorganize!
Freestyle. Tell us something random! I applied for a job a couple of weeks ago that I wasn't sure I really really wanted, but I thought I would at least get an interview. I didn't even get an interview and now I've realized I REALLY want to move out of teaching into something new. Which is just depressing as hell.
Yes,I'm smiling...I'm a marathoner!

Happy Tuesday! Happy first day of being (mostly) unemployed for me. Oh, I have plans for the next couple of weeks and I have a good lead on a job. At least I have extra time to run/exercise and do all those things I keep saying I am going to do. Happy indeed! Relax and enjoy the last little bit of freedom in RI
What event are you training for/date? Haha, I'm not. Just being a buttinsky today.
What does your training schedule look like for the week? M-5k run, Tu-45min XT, W-5k run, Th-45min XT, F-5k run, Sa-5k race that I'm not racing, just running, plus another half hour of running on top of that.
Any injuries or problems? My feet are cranky. I think it's time for new insoles in my running shoes.
Highlights from last week? This go-around was the first time, post-half training, that I ran the week directly after my race. I feel pretty okay with it, despite some residual soreness and suckness.
We've seen a bunch of new people in the last couple of weeks (new people, feel free to chime in if you are training for something). What do advice do you have for someone just starting on a H&F journey? Take it literally one step at a time. H&F is a marathon, not a sprint. Sprinting without understanding and appreciating the long haul can leave you frustrated, injured, tired, and not wanting to keep going down the right path. Also, bodyglide is your friend.
Freestyle. Tell us something random! I'm on my own this week, DH is visiting his parents. Woohoo to leaving the bathroom door open and going to bed whenever I damn well feel like it!
What does your training schedule look like for the week? doing short runs tonight and either Thursday or Friday (depending on weather). Sunday I have a 4m race, but I'll do a 2m "warm up" so I have a 6 mile run in.
Any injuries or problems? I just have to get myself motivated. I think having the race on the schedule will help (if I don't have a race, I hate doing long runs)
Highlights from last week? knocked one second off my fastest pace time last weekend during a 5k.
What does your training schedule look like for the week? Cross-train, short run, sorta long run, short run (plus walking), rest, sorta long run, long run, plus strength training where it fits. Aiming for just over 40 miles total.
Any injuries or problems? Nope. Pretty easy marathon recovery.
Highlights from last week? Really nice weather.
We've seen a bunch of new people in the last couple of weeks (new people, feel free to chime in if you are training for something). What do advice do you have for someone just starting on a H&F journey? Everyone already said my advice. Set goals, find something you like to do, start with something small, and don't get discouraged if you have a setback.
Freestyle. Tell us something random! I am shipping up to Boston tomorrow, and I am also listening to the Dropkick Murphys song I'm Shipping Up to Boston right now.
Running on the Rhode
I hate you very much
What event are you training for/date? Earth day 5 Mile on April 21st
What does your training schedule look like for the week? Sun- 3 m. run, Mon-NROLFW 1b, Tue- 2 m. run, Wed- rest, Thur- 4.5 m. run, Fri- 2 m. run, Sat- NROLFW 2a.
Any injuries or problems? Nope!
Highlights from last week? virgin mileage of 4 miles
We've seen a bunch of new people in the last couple of weeks (new people, feel free to chime in if you are training for something). What do advice do you have for someone just starting on a H&F journey? Remember that the road to h & f is long but the only way to get there is to take it one day at a time. Also motivation is overrated, someday you just have to get out and do it! I've never regretted a workout.
Something random? I'm on spring break and the most exciting thing I'm doing is painting my bedroom and planting a garden... I must be old!
Key Biscayne Half April 29th
M: NROL4W 1A
T: Speed work (my first time!) 1/8 mi intervals for a total of one mile.
W: NROL4W 1B
Th: 5 mile run
F: rest
Sat yoga
Sun: 9 mile run with some bridges to get ready for the race
I have for some reason gotten a good deal slower. I think part of it is that I am comfortable in my running and have just been enjoying easy runs. I'm also running more with a friend and we talk while running so I'm not pushing it as much.
No highs or lows
For new people- it's not going to be easy, but if you keep at it you will reaps rewards that I find way better than the physical. The feeling of accomplishment, of a tired body that earned that tired feeling and the high that comes with running far enough.
