Recs for iPhone arm band?

I was running with an iPod nano, but since getting a new iPhone I think I prefer running with it. I feel safer having a phone with me and I like the options of different apps (for instance, I've brought it on bike rides and use the I Map My Ride app). On rides I just put it in the bag on dh's bike (I am nowhere near a good enough bike rider that I would listen to music while riding!), and I've been stuffing it in a fanny pack for runs. The fanny pack is ugly and annoying so I really need a proper arm band for running. Any recs? Tia!

  • This is similar to the one that I have. It stays in place well and is lightweight. If I had to do it over again though, I would get the one that has a pocket. I can slide my ID or gym care in behind my phone, but it would've been even better with a pocket for things like my car keys.

  • Mine is a Griffin one, off Amazon. It was cheap and I know the brand, so I bought it. Usually brands like Griffin or Belkin are pretty good quality, I would look on Amazon.

This. Mine doesn't have that either. I wear a SPIbelt but it would be nice to have it all in one instead of wearing the armband and SPIbelt at the same time.

  • Yeah a pocket would definitely be nice. Usually I wear lululemon shorts that have a small compartment for a car key, but I'd like a pocket for dog poop bags and maybe even pepper spray.

  • For my just iPhone, I have a tunebelt armband. What's awesome about it is that I don't have to take my iPhone out of its Speck case to fit inside of it. I've also got a few pieces of tech clothing that have arm pouches large enough to fit my phone. I use MMR as my backup to my Garmin, or when I'm running outside of a training schedule, and it works just fine.

My fuelbelt, the Nathan trail mix, has a pouch that also fits my iPhone along with my key fob, Gus, etc.

  • Doesn't your iPhone get heavy, though?  I can barely stand the nano on my arm.

  • Eh, you get used to it. Plus it's kind of a nice "security blanket" when I'm running alone on a trail

  • I originally got the nano because I thought my old phone was heavy to run with (also it sucked and the battery didn't last long enough to run with), but since then I've changed my mind.  I'd rather have the peace of mind of having a phone with me. I often run with my dog and want to have access to my phone in case something happens to her.  I just don't know if I'm going to run into coyotes or mean dogs (I did get bitten on a run once but fortunately it wasn't serious and the dog stopped when I told him to) or get hurt and need my phone. I also like being able to use GPS apps and not have to rely on my pedometer, which keeps breaking. Mostly I just feel safer having a phone, even if it is heavy.

Anyway, the nano case I have is TuneBand and I love it, so I don't know why I didn't think of that! It would definitely be nice to be able to leave my Speck case on. Thank you so much for the recs!
