Megadeth lead singer and guitarist Dave Mustaine spoke with the CBC's George Stroumboulopoulos about politics, which he says is an essential concern.
"You have to be to live in America, because things change every day there. You just keep getting more of your rights taken away."
Freedom of speech is Mustaine's key rights concern: "Because I've got a big mouth."
As for his political affiliation, "I kinda vote for the lesser of two evils," he says, which would appear to be Republican.
"Rick Santorum ? he just looked like he could be a really cool president, kind of like a JFK kind of guy."
As for U.S. President Barack Obama, "I know he was born somewhere else than America."
Pressed on the matter, Mustaine says, "I want to change the subject. I don't want to talk about my president."

Re: Megadeth Singer is a Birther, loves him some Santorum
I know. WTF? And
to the fact that he "knows" President Obama was born someplace other than America. Maybe he should share that information with the class.
"This ribbon has been reported." - lovesnina
he could still have been with metalica if he wasn't such an azz.
Exactly. He drank too much even for the band that nicknamed themselves Alcoholica for a bit there.
Mustaine is an ass. When a band comprised of alcoholics thinks you're hittin the sauce too hard, you've got problems.
But I still love Symphony of Destruction.
He's a white heterosexual Christian male. Santorum isn't interested in taking his rights away.
Me thinks Santorum is probably not a Megadeth fan and would have no problem on the sensoring front.
Sure. Fine. But he doesn't have this guy.
See me in action!
