Re: Bra shopping?

  • Go to Nordstrom or a lingerie specialialty shop specializing in fittings.  Give them a budget at Nordstrom and they will follow it for you.  You can always pick up more at The Rack.  I don't trust anyone else for fitting them and their stock has huge variety.  Do not go to Victoria's Secret under any circumstance.

ETA: Victoria's Secret is clueless on fitting and carries very few sizes.  Typically, they will fit you completely wrong if you do not wear one of their sizes and they will put you in the wrong size.  Their quality is also horrible.  A $50 Nordstrom bra will outlast their stuff.  Also, the right bra can make you look much thinner and make your clothes fit much better.

  • Nordstroms will do a great job fitting you. I have a problem where my straps constantly fall down my arm, and they found me a couple that solves that problem. Truly the best money spent on bras, even though I think they were $50 or $60 each. But so comfy so it's worth it. If you don't want to spend that, I have had good luck at Kohls (but the straps still fall down my arms, even on the tightest setting).

  • I love Victoria's Secret. All my bras are from there
  • I am clueless when it comes to bra shopping so I went to a local bra fitting store here in town.  I will never shop at Victoria's Secret again.  I have also heard great things about fittings with Nordstrom.  The bras I ended up getting from the local bra store is a CK so hopefully I can find it at The Rack for cheaper too.

I think VS bras are good quality. I've never had a problem. They've always lasted me a while

  • I looove the VS bra I'm wearing right now. Just make sure your band size isn't too big. The band should be holding the bra up, not the straps.
  • Get fitted at Nordstrom and buy them at Bloomie's with 20% off friends and family.  If you're lucky, maybe Nordstrom will price match.  They seem to carry similar brands.
  • I also go to Nordstrom to be fitted and then up shopping around for the bras.  I really like CK bras and can usually find them at TJ Maxx/Marshalls for about a third of the price, in past prints.

  • I agree - Nordstrom for a fitting and maybe buy one or two there, and after you know what size/styles/brands work for you, see if you can find them at Nordstrom Rack.

This is exactly what I did.  So worth it to get fitted there....I was waaaay off on sizing :)

  • I was originally sized at Nordstroms but get my bras at a variety of places.  I love Gap Body t-shirt bras.  I've gotten some from VS (they are fine as long as they don't size you!) and from Soma.
