So what is the alternative to Obamacare again?
With all the discussion surrounding the mandate in the SC and the rep platform of repeal in its entirety, remind me again what the other options are.

FREEDOM!!!ELEVENTY!111!!!!!
YWIA.
Get sick and try to die quickly.
Public option - a government run insurance plan that people can choose to opt into if they want, OR they can keep their current employer plan if they have one.
UHC - "single payer". The government is the provider of health care and is the only option. Maybe you will have supplemental private insurance, but not necessarily. Think France, Sweden, or Canada.
Direct payor - No insurance, no UHC. People pay their doctors like they pay their hair dresser: out of pocket. There's a 2009 article in Atlantic Monthly that details how this plan would look and personally, it's my first choice.
Status quo - States' rahts.
there is also a hybrid Germany like model... that has a single payer that all can get, but then there is a supplemental insurance that you can buy that gets you "private care"... which is faster, nicer hospital rooms, etc...
Additionally--the direct payor model sounds a lot like India today from what i know of it. I am not sure that is the best option...
