joint supplements?

Does anyone take a joint supplement that they could recommend?

I'm in a nightly bootcamp class where we do a workout similar to the Insanity workout series. We're on the floor a lot and my wrists are especially taking a beating from all of the planks, mountain climbers, push ups, etc. I do use a mat, but it doesn't seem to help.

Occasionally my knees and ankles are sore too, although I'm pretty careful to use proper form. There's just a lot of jumping, etc.

I'm hoping maybe a supplement would help. I'm open to other ideas too though.

Re: joint supplements?

  • My sports doc put me on glucosamine chondroitin supplements twice a day and it has made all the difference in the world. You can get them at any pharmacy.

  • I can't tolerate glucosamine, but I've had great results from a twice-daily calcium + D supplement, and the occasional tart cherry concentrate (2-4 Tbsp mixed with sparkling water). If I miss the calcium for a few days, my knees start to ache again.

My physical therapist had me taking them too. I think I noticed a difference, but I was also stretching more and getting physical therapy. It was probably a combination of those things that made my knee pain go away.

  • I take Osteo-Bioflex (One a day dose). I haven't had any stiffness in my knees since when I started taking it consistently a couple years ago.
