So I'll be on here a lot PIP -- finally got PIP
Because now we are under contract
The new place has a LOT of windows, which I love, but I'm unsure about window treatments. I don't think I'm gonna do panels -- something a little more unobtrusive, because the wood work is really beautiful...maybe valances with shades?
i'd love to hear your opinions, and thanks!

ETA: I can't for the life of me figure out putting pics in posts and it drives me nuts!
This post has PIP instructions. I have a headache, otherwise I would explain it myself.
Welcome!
Very pretty!
I have known a several people with similar windows, and I think all have dealt with them differently.
A few chose to go period appropriate with curtains, but some chose inside mount while others chose wide panels that were hung high, and opened away from the corner. Some chose simple white cotton curtains, while others used prints that gave a nod to the period.
The people who felt that they needed some privacy, but didn't want to completely block their view used matchstick blinds. That was some time ago, and there might be more options available now, but the matchstick blinds were nice because it allowed them to see out during the day with them down, and they could raise them easily if they wanted the window unobscured.
They signed the contract and agreed to do the termite treatment, hurrah! And no, you're not being nosy, thanks for asking!
Congratulations! Beautiful!
I like Roman shades or drapes hung high on the wall above. Looking forward to seeing your posts!

Awesome congrats! Looks like an awesome house. Now that you know how to PIP you should post some more.
I vote inside mount roman blinds all the way! You can mix it up for each room and do solid fabric, patterned fabric, or natural woven ones (made of bamboo or the like...as long as the color matches the material doesn't matter). Maybe in the master bedroom use curtains along with roman blinds to soften things up and add some elegance. In rooms where you need it dark get the black out panels but for other rooms where you just want privacy or just a constant look by putting blinds in all of the windows a semi-transparent blind works just fine and saves cost. IMO wood or other horizontal slate blinds don't look as good on windows with grilles because the strong horizontal lines they make mixed with the vertical grilles behind looks off.
That is what we're planning to do with our new windows as my dad is custom making us some expensive cherry craftsman style trim and I don't want to block it.
That room is gorgeous. It must be so light!
I vote inside mount roman blinds, too.
thanks everyone! i'm going to do some research on the roman shades! I do definitely want to try to put something on a tension rod to avoid drilling into the wood.
And yes, the room pictured gets great light! We call it the "sun room", but it's more of an enclosed porch. I'll post more pictures in another post -- thanks for all your feedback and suggestions!
