Project Runway - so, is it me?

I just watched the finale. I realize it was talked about already, but deal.... :)

Being given only 4 days to do a "collection", then the fact that the runway was clearly just thrown together for the show (vs. showing at Fashion Week).... it really just seemed so - forced.

Or as many said - this was done just for Mondo.

And there seemed to be no real star power there (like what you usually see at fashion week).

I don't know... just seemed forced.

And God that hostess....  she's just bad.

Re: Project Runway - so, is it me?

  • Yeah, it was unexciting.

I'm convinced they bought Mondo off somehow at the end of his original season. The finale when Gretchen won was really weird, and Mondo seemed resigned to the loss as though he KNEW they were picking Gretchen. And he added all that weird last-minute stuff to his collection that totally gave the excuse to not vote him winner. I suspect they'd already proposed the All-Stars thing to him instead and asked him to botch his collection. Why the hell they wanted Gretchen so bad though is still beyond me. What happened to her? Is she selling anything? They thought her stuff was so "on trend" and immediately sellable.

And then we had this season that everyone knew was Mondo's from the get go, and his weird whiny attitude that could be explained by fatigue and his knowledge that the prize was already his, so why did he have to jump through all the stressful hoops all over again. He was obviously over the game and just barely phoning it in.

  • Yes, it was forced.

I think many of us agree that it was all an effort to make up for Mondo losing before when he should have won. I personally think he (and the fans that were so upset back then) deserved this win, forced or not.  Smile

(And the host sure wasn't great but she particularly sucked at the final runway show. She is so not Heidi. lol)

Oh, I like Mondo and am glad he won!  It was just the staged/forced feeling that really underwhelmed me and made the whole thing feel cheezy.
