...blows!
I am tired of those Jackson Hewitt commercials about people getting
$12,000 tax refunds (mostly because I'm bitter I won't be getting a refund). I owe a large amount due to some errors made last year. So, obviously I am waiting until the last minute to file them. The money I was going to use for a trip to NYC gets to be used to pay the government. Fun!

Taxes indeed blow, on just about any level.
I used to owe every year, too, because I either earned most of my money in tips or from my work as an independent contractor when I didn't pay taxes at all for a side job. I have so been there and it's not fun to fork over that money.
**kicks dirt for panda and conrad**
Boo taxes!
But I'm glad I'm not alone. All my friends just keep telling me what they are doing with their refund (highlights, new car, trips), and I just felt like whining. I was expecting to have to owe a little, but it's more than I expected. I had my BIL who is an accountant look everything over to make sure I didn't do something wrong. I didn't.
My mom's a CPA, so tax season definitely sucks for her long and ridiculous hours. Plus, this is the time of year where more idiots asks ridiculous questions (i.e. "Do I have to pay that much or is that the suggested amount?" or "If I don't file, I won't owe it, right?")
And I personally don't like because if I didn't file jointly with DH, I would owe.
Last year when we did our taxes, we owed SO MUCH MONEY!!!
( I am starting to believe 2011 was an unlucky year)
Sadly, I was trying to save money to add to our house fund which by this time this year we would have had enough to put a down deposit for a house.
This year? We are doing our taxes through someone else and we should owe nothing since I was in school all last year.
