Wednesday FOTD, recent purchases, product reviews

Today is super casual for me, with me working from home and just running errands, so I decided to try something different and very subtle with my eyes.

Face - Clinique BB, Revlon Skinlights Illuminator on cheeks, Cover Girl clean pressed powder.

Lips - Revlon Colorburst lipstick in Fuschia

Eyes - Maybelline color tattoo in Too Cool (white) all over.  On entire lid I blended Physicians Formula Shimmer Strips kohl eyeliner in the pink color that comes with the hazel eye trio.  I intended to use it just to line the lid, but I didn't like it that way, so I blended it as a shadow.  I also used it to line my lower lash line.  Mascara is Maybelline Falsies.

I also made some skincare purchases.

Emu oil, which is supposed to be a great face moisturizer.   I plan to use it just on my cheeks, which tend to get dry from using Retin A.

DMAE firming fluid, which was probably a stupid purchase.  It was cheap, though, and did get rave reviews.  It's supposed to provide temporary lifting/smoothing of the skin, and I plan to use it around my eyes during the day.

Lastly, I decided to try a different (cheaper) copper peptide cream, Skin Signals from Skin Biology.  I will use this as a night cream.  Part of me thinks this may be a dumb purchase, as the product contains mostly 2nd generation copper peptides, and the 1st generation ones (sold by Procyte in products like Neova) are the only ones proven to help with wrinkles/aging.  Many people swear by the 2nd generation copper peptides, though, even though there are not yet any scientific studies backing it up.

  • My makeup is SO boring and natural today... But I REALLY want to play this. I'm going to do it tomorrow!

You look great! I LOVE the pink shimmery eye color you got from the blending.

  • Nothing picture worthy but I did buy some new makeup and skincare products.  I bought some Too Faced Close-Up Coverage Foundation.  It leaves me looking less washed out that products I've used in the past.

I also ordered some Jojoba oil off of Amazon based on a recommendation from the aesthetician that did my chemical peel back in December.  She said it *should* attract the grossness in my pores up to the surface so they're easier to clean/purge.  Hopefully it'll be in my mailbox when I get home.

I also ordered Cosmedix lightning serum from Skin.com.  It's a line that is carried by one of my all time favorite spas here in town and I'm hoping it'll help lighten some old acne scars.  I'm on week two.  I *think* I see a difference but it might just be in my head.

How are you going to use the Jojoba oil?  I use it to remove my makeup, but I've never tried to use it for anything else.... just wondering what other great things you can do with it.

  • Go_Dawgs, I love products with DMAE in it! I've only used Perricone items, which is super pricey, so I will have to check that out! I also take DMAE supplements...
