Vegas with kids

DH and I are thinking about taking a family vacation to Las Vegas this summer with our kids, ages 10 and 18. Any advice on hotels, restaurants, shows and attractions that would be appropriate for my younger child? We've never taken the kids there before, but DH and I have gone several times by ourselves so we have a good idea of what to expect. Thanks!

Re: Vegas with kids

  • New York New York would be a great choice for a hotel.  It`s family oriented and has a huge arcade and rollercoaster on site.  Mirage would be good, Treasure Island, Planet Hollywood, and MGM as well.

For attractions, there`s Madame Tussaud`s wax museum, Adventuredome at Circus Circus, the Shark Reef at Mandalay Bay, the Secret Garden & Dolphin Habitat at Mirage - those are the ones I remember when we took our boys.  We took them to "V The Ultimate Variety Show" (www.vtheshow.com) and they totally loved it, we enjoyed it as well.

For eating, they really liked the Sunday Brunch at the Paris hotel, it`s a fave of ours, we go every time we`re there.  They liked the California Pizza Kitchen at Mirage, and you must take them to Serendipity 3 in front of Caesar`s, the frozen hot chocolate is yummy, as well as the waffle fries!

    Have fun!

We are staying with my son in July and plan to stay at Mandalay or THEHotel (connected).  The pool is amazing.  The location is on the south end of the strip which is a bit of a draw back, but we live here so we don't necessarily feel the need to be central and are more concerned with specific hotel amenities.

  • Thanks so much for the replies. I apologize for not responding sooner but I was called out of town unexpectedly. Las Vegas isn't really a place we've considered vacationing with the kids until recently, but as they get older it's getting harder to find somewhere to go that everyone will enjoy. You all had some great ideas! We're leaning at this point towards staying for five nights at the Venetian. We also love the Paris brunch, so that's definitely something we'll be doing. We're also thinking about the Blue Man Group and Love. Thanks again for the advice!
