Mommy-to-be Wednesday!

Stolen from GP (with some stuff edited out):

How many weeks?

How are you feeling?

What are you craving?

What is grossing you out?

What item do you think will be a MUST HAVE for baby?

Baby registry - Exciting? Or overwhelming?

When considering names, have you and H played the "KIDS ARE CRUEL" game and thought of every possible terrible nickname?  What about initials?

Are you anxious about how your H will handle baby?  Does he have much baby experience?

If you were a gambling woman, do you think the babe will look more like you or your H?

If you were a gambling woman, do you think the babe will look more like you or your H?

Obviously not a mommy-to-be here, but I read an anthropology article recently and it was saying that anthropologically babies look like the father for the first year so that the dads would bond with them and then once they start developing more the mom's characteristics come out. Since the mom's carry the babies they don't need to see themselves in the child to know that it's theirs. I thought that was interesting.

That's interesting, and I totally saw that in my niece. She was such her daddy's baby the first year and now she's got a lot more of her mom in her features.

  • How many weeks? 14, weeks seem to be flying by now!

How are you feeling? Mostly good, but I've got a bit of 2nd tri morning sickness, it seems. :P

What are you craving? Cheez-Its, fruit, popsicles

What is grossing you out? meat

What item do you think will be a MUST HAVE for baby? a really good sling/carrier. I want to wear that baby as long as my back will allow.

Baby registry - Exciting? Or overwhelming? Overwhelming at first - there are so many options! I think it'll be more exciting once we dive into it.

When considering names, have you and H played the "KIDS ARE CRUEL" game and thought of every possible terrible nickname?  What about initials? We haven't, but we're conscious of initials and making sure they don't spell out A$$ or PIS. The names we've picked are pretty much immune to cruelty.

Are you anxious about how your H will handle baby?  Does he have much baby experience? I think he'll be great. He's a gentle giant. I just know he'll love being a daddy.

If you were a gambling woman, do you think the babe will look more like you or your H? I hope it's a good mix of both! My family tends to have fairly strong features. DH's, well, kind of.

PIP YOUR BUMP! Click on my siggy! I posted pics on my blog this morning. (It's still mostly just chub)

Same with my nephew! He's one and a half now and he looks almost exactly like his mom when she was little.

That really is interesting! DH and I have had many conversations about who has the stronger genes. Pretty much, if the baby comes out blonde, it's DH's family, if it comes out dark with a full head of hair, that's my Armenian family. We shall see, we shall see...

ohh but I should add that DH and all of his siblings were blonde until they were about 5, and now they all have dark dark brown hair.

  • How many weeks? 18w2d

How are you feeling? awesome! I've worked out every day in the past 7 days!

What are you craving? burritos and steak. Ohhhh and sushi.

What is grossing you out? nothing.

What item do you think will be a MUST HAVE for baby? That giant vibrating swing thing. You can tell I'm on top of this crap. haha

Baby registry - Exciting? Or overwhelming? So exciting! I can't wait to register in person! I've already started one for BRU online, and I've put together a CD one on Jilliansdrawers.com

When considering names, have you and H played the "KIDS ARE CRUEL" game and thought of every possible terrible nickname?  What about initials? I usually go through the initials. No KK names for us, that's for sure.

Are you anxious about how your H will handle baby?  Does he have much baby experience? Not anxious at all. I'm anxious about how I will handle the baby. He's the one with more experience. I always have him change the diapers. I'm starting to think I'm screwed!

If you were a gambling woman, do you think the babe will look more like you or your H? I want to be stubborn and say me, but something tells me his genes will win. It's ok, because he has amazing green eyes, and his whole family has really dark hair. so pretty.

That is facinating! And don't be sorry - I love that kind of stuff! I vaguely remember hearing something about that as well. Although H was born looking like a lizard with an adult-sized human head, so this doesn't bode well for us.
