What type of underwear do you wear?

To workout in? All my athletic shorts and pants are moisture wicking and then I wear cotton underwear and it is just not working well for me.

What type of material is best? Is there any specific "exercise underwear" out there? Suggestions are appreciated! TIA

Re: What type of underwear do you wear?

  • Ahhh, the age old undies question.

I don't wear undies... ever, while working out.

  • I'm not a commando exerciser, I tried but just didn't like it.

I usually wear the Barely There boyshort undies from Kohls.  They're not cotton,   they don't ride up and they don't leave panty lines, which I absolutely hate.

  • No undies (unless it's very cold and I need an extra layer to keep my bum warm). Most of my shorts have liners built in, and I just deal with compression shorts/pants.

  • My running shorts have built in underwear, but for compression gear or capris/tights I wear wicking underwear from Road Runner Sports. I am not a fan of commando.

  • If my shorts have a good liner (lululemon) then I go commando.

I have a few non-cotton seamless pairs, Hanes I think, that I try to wear other times. If I'm stuck in cotton or a pair I don't really care for, then I make sure to BodyGlide where the edges rub just in case.

  • I don't.  99% of the time I am in running shorts which have built in liners/underwear.

  • I don't have a preference, I always wear whatever undies I have on for the day and do not generally make a point to wear anything different for when I run.  However, I do try to wear certain underwear that will not hike up my butt while running, but that is the only thing that has caused me irritation, regardless of whether I am wearing cotton or wicking or something else and regardless of how long I run for.

    This.

And that's why I love running skirts. Compression shorts but a bit more modest. :)

  • I usually don't wear underwear. If I have to (cold, pants ride up, etc.) then I wear Underarmour or Lululemon wicking underwear.

  • No undies!

Either I wear running shorts with the build-in panty (I hate that word, but it's descriptive here)... or I wear fitted shorts/capris/pants/tights commando.

  • Love the Patagonia wicking boyshorts. Most comfortable undies ever.

  • VS has a 'yoga' branded underwear. They're some kind of synthetic/non cotton material. I'm actually considering starting to wear the thongs I have in that style because my undies always seem to get bunchy at the gym. I refuse to go commando, but my shorts are nowhere near fitted enough to get away with that.

  • When I am working out, it's sans underpants!

Every day life, Soma Intimates "Vanishing Edge" panties. LOVE them. However if you get them, I  highly suggest that you hang dry them rather that putting them in the dryer. They will last SO much longer.

  • When doing cardio? None. Just lifting weights, just regular old cotton briefs because I don't tend to get very sweaty when I lift.
