Can't drop the weight!!!

I'm 24 and am trying to slim down for my september wedding. Dont' get me wrong, I'm not totally huge, but I have some extra on my arms and belly I could definately loose! I've been trying for three weeks now, cutting calories, eating good foods, smaller meals, more h2o, trying to exercise more but definately not there yet and I've gone from 165 to 161 to 163 etc etc. IT'S NOT GOING ANYWHERE!!! My fiance has cut back and has lost 9 lbs GRRRRRRRRRRR. Any food, exercise anything suggestions would be fabulous, THANKS!!!

  • First of all, it is normal for your weight to fluctuate within a few pounds. And second, don't compare yourself to FI.

Without really know the specifics of your plan, it is hard to give really solid advice. What I would suggest is to try a website like sparkpeople which will help you track your calories and make sure that you are getting the right mix of fat, carbs, protein, etc.

Also, in terms of exercise, as long as you are in GOOD health and have been cleared by your doc for exercise, try to engage in moderate to high cardio workouts 3-6 times a week and strength training 2-3 times a week. Aim for at least 45-60 minutes total (but please don't go overboard!). Take some classes like step aerobics or spinning. Or a total body conditioning class. GL!

  • It's going to take more than three weeks, especially if you don't have a lot to lose (as opposed to, like, the contestants on The Biggest Loser).

Weight loss is a simple (notice I didn't say EASY, I said simple) matter of calories in vs. calories out. If you burn more than you eat, you will lose weight. But remember that your body burns calories just existing all day long. So if you restrict TOO much, and don't eat enough to fuel your daily activity plus your exercise, that won't work either.
