stove right next to fridge?
We're going to demo the kitchen in our new place, but when we configured the new setup, the stove is right next to the fridge, with no cabinet in between or anything. DH doesn't think this will be an issue and a kitchen designer set it up for us.
Do you see this causing any problems? My mom thinks the heat from the stove might make the fridge work harder, but I don't think the stove would give off heat from the sides....but I have no clue
Thanks

Put a fridge on either side - one of us is going to be highly annoyed.
But that aside, I still think it would be really awkward. It's like putting a wall right next to your stove.

That reminds me, in the old kitchen, we had a wall right next to the stove. I'm righty, H is lefty. We didn't have any problem with it even though sometimes I used all 4 burners
1) If I was renovating my kitchen I would try my hardest to get a perfect cooking "triangle" between the sink, stove, and fridge.
2) Our very first rental had a super tiny galley kitchen and the stove was right next to the fridge. It was gross to keep clean (spaghetti sauce splashed down the side created a lovely adventure in cleaning). I don't know if it made the fridge work harder, but it was kind of awkward and made it hard for other people to get things out of the fridge when someone was cooking (but that was compounded by the tiny galley kitchen aspect. I couldn't even open the oven all the way).
And, for future resale value, I think it might be something that bothered potential buyers.

If you have a chance to change it, do it. My kitchen (rental house) is set up like that and I hate it. I need to have counter space on either side to put things. Like other PP said, the side of the refrigerator gets dirty.
In our current place (rental) we have a wall beside the stove, so annoying! DH and I are both right handed and the wall was on the left and we still had problems. Not to mention trying to keep the wall clean all the time.
