what do think good ones are?
Personally I think you can never have too many pens... but that is pretty boring.
Does anyone have any ideas?
Re: Conference giveaways
Flash drives.
Pens.
I have more notebooks than I know what to do with. Those are getting kinda old.

my boss wants to do flash drives but how relevant are flash drives anymore? I just email myself docs if I need to move things onto different computers

We use them all the time here, so I think they still are relevant. For example, I'll have student workers who are doing photos at an event bring them to me on a flash drive. It's hard to send RAWs via email, file size restrictions being what they are

Depending on the industry, flash drives are useful for security purposes. Since I dot have remote access, I wind up emailing myself documents back and forth because I forget my flash drive. But my encrypted flash drive is much more secure.
I'd rather get two really good pens than a crappy pen and something else crappy.
Also: booze. Always the best gift.
I'd want booze too if I spent all days working attorneys. Maybe I'll suggest it to my boss :-)

I prefer clever or unique give aways. Triple A gave me a key chain once that said buckle up and it looked like a seat belt snap and it literally could be buckled and unbuckled.
Once I just got a really cool yo yo.
But I'm in marketing so I look at the give aways in a different light then the majority of people. For instance my Triple A key chain hangs in my office and it gives me inspiration when I need to be creative and clever.

Bottle opener keychain!
What? You don't carry a bottle opener wherever you go?
I have a ring that's a bottle opener.
Last external class I went to we all sat around playing with one guy's pen. It had a light on the end of it that had his company logo in the shadow when you shined it against the table. Grown ass people played with that pen for almost 20 minutes.
