Talk to me about TMs and BBs...

Do you guys JUST wear them? Or do you wear it under a powder/finisher?

Re: Talk to me about TMs and BBs...

  • I have to set my BB, and my TM when I was wearing TM... either with BM foundation or just mineral veil.

I wear TM under powder. Otherwise, it has poor staying power and makes me shiny.

I just bought BB so I can't opine now. But I'll let you know once I get it in! I plan on wearing it under powder, too.

  • hmmm if I have to set it with powder, then I'm not sure I want it. Doesn't really cut my routine any.
  • So should I look at them as like a super awesome alternative to concealer? I don't really wear concealer...

And BB is spot cover up, right? And a TM all over the face?

    No.  They're both foundation alternatives.

  • I just use the Garnier BB cream, no powder.

  • BB cream is for all over your face.  I wear it instead of foundation.  I set it with Tarte powder (at least the Garnier I do, the Smashbox didn't make me shiny).

I can't get as good of coverage with TM as I do with BB cream.  BB cream looks a lot more natural than foundation.  It's like it becomes part of my skin.

  • I bought the Garnier BB and love it! I apply it with a foundation brush and have been setting it with my MAC mineralize powder or Loreal True Match pressed powder. When you first put it on, it doesn't seem like enough coverage but give it a bit to settle and then add powder and it looks amazing! My skin is really broken out, more bumpy zits, not big red ones, and it looks awesome. I did a video review a few days ago on my blog. The blog address is in my sig. The only thing I have added to it the last few days is some of the Garnier undereye roller that has color to it.

  • I use a pressed powder on top.  I have combination skin, and would get shiny in my t-zone pretty quick without powder.

Like others said, a BB is a foundation alternative.  It's really pretty similar to a tinted moisturizer, but the way it goes on is a little different than any TM I've used.

I look at a BB as a foundation alternative that has skin healthy ingredients that are hard to find in makeup products.  When I decided to try one, I wasn't looking for a miracle makeup product that is amazingly different from foundation or TM.  As purely a makeup product, it's a little different than foundation or TM.  However, it's not just makeup, it is also skincare.  The BB I use has spf 30, is full of antioxidants, and has caffeine to lessen any skin irritation.  A lot of Asian BB's have skin whiteners, as pale skin is sought after in Asia.

  • I use TM and don't set it with powder. in fact, I rarely wear powder ever. if I use it, it is to set the concealer under my eyes but not all over my face.

I have combination skin (t-zone) and I feel like adding powder to my face makes it even more oily- maybe I am not using the right powder?

Interesting.  IDK, I've always used a pressed powder and touch up about once a day to control shine.  I've used Cover Girl for years, but I also like Clinique pressed powder.

  • I thought the Garnier was kind of sticky feeling until I set it with powder.  So far I'm not in love with it and probably wouldn't buy it again bc I LOVE my foundation (Make Up For Ever HD) and it feels lighter than the Garnier BB.  I did just get a sample from Smashbox of theirs so I'll give that a go.  I want to order an Asian one to see if an authentic BB is better than what we can get in the stores.
