My 37week appointment update
I had my 37 week appointment today and things went well.
A couple things are frustrating, though. When I got weighed, the nurse asked if he had mentioned an internal for today and I said yes. The next nurse who put me in the room asked again if mentioned an internal for today and I said yes. She was all miffed and said she didn't think we were doing those this early and I said he told me they start at 37 weeks. So, she was a bit snippy and said she would leave me in there with the sheet. This made me wonder if I was crazy or misinterpreting things.
OB came in and I'm bottomless but covered with the sheet and I immediately asked if today was the start of internals and he said of course and had no idea why the nurses were questioning things.
It's nothing exciting but I was 1.5cm dilated and about 40% effaced. It will be interesting to see what progress I made between now and next week. He did say he could feel baby's head and that baby has moved down a little.
I hate that OBs seem to think they can make guesses on when you'll deliver based on the internal. You can walk around dilated for a long time and have nothing progress and I'm fully prepared to go a week over. My OB seems to think I'll deliver in 2 weeks?
My other annoyance is the booking of my appointments. I was told at the beginning of my pregnancy that my appointments would always be on Thursdays and always at the OB clinic at the hospital. The problem now is they will only allow me to book 1 appointment at a time even though I'm going weekly. I've booked the next 2 Thursdays off work so that I don't inconvenience my co-workers or my patients. Well, today they tell me there are no more Thursday appointments available for the remainder of my pregnancy. WTF? So what am I supposed to do? The OB clinic had told me few weeks ago to call the office and have them book the remainder of my appointments and when I call the office, they won't let me do that. They say I have to book one at a time.
I talked to my OB and he told me to call his receptionist at his office and have her slot me in, that the OB clinic has the schedule but is more reserved about the booking and he isn't completely full. Well, the receptionist tells me he's full and she's the one who said no more Thursday bookings. But my OB is pretty great and he knows I'm still working and told me to tell her he insists I'm seem next Thursday. Ugh, so frustrating. She put me on hold and came back and gave me a 1:30 appointment. This should not be that hard! I need to be seen weekly and he only sees pregnant patients on certain days so figure it out...seriously.

I'm sort of interested to see where I'm at next week. My guess is closed up tighter than Fort Knox.
One of the benefits of having one of the last aprs of the day with my family doc is that he just goes in and books my next apt while we're sitting there. Apparently they have some weird booking procedures too.
We'll just not tell H about this little fact, m'kay?
Sorry they're being so crappy with the booking! It makes no sense what they're doing.

I agree with the others frustrating and crazy. There is no logical reason why, you shouldn't have been able to book the remainder of your appointments.
However, I am glad to hear you have some progress. I was sealed up tight, even the day before I delivered. It's weird how your body works.
