NPCER: Minipill side effects?
Thanks to my body's decision to expel my Mirena, I am now on the minipill (until we make a decision about future kids). I am bloated in ways I didn't know I could bloat. I seriously look like I'm 3 months pregnant today. Is this going to be a regular thing, or will it cease once my body adjusts? Did you have any other side effects?
Re: NPCER: Minipill side effects?
Its really not supposed to give you side effects. Estrogen is responsible for bloat and other PMS-type side effects, as well as heart issue side effects, and the mini pill doesn't have that. BUT, if you just switched, you could have bloat just from your body trying to regulate. Or you know, from eating a bunch of fast food.
ETA: http://www.webmd.com/sex/birth-control/progestin-only-hormonal-methods-mini-pills-shots this site says I'm wrong, or that its normal to have bloat your first few months using it. FWIW, I still get bloat and boob tenderness and a cramp or two on my MIrena and I've had it for about a year.
The other thing about the minipill: you have to be supersuper vigilant about taking it at PRECISELY the same time every day.
How about a copper IUD?
I am the 99%.
Oh no - that sucks! I'm getting the Mirena on Monday
My minipill experience was great - no side effects. EXCEPT - I never.ever.ever wanted to have sex. Ever. I think that's actually how it works.
ETA: sh!t - I lied. I was on a monophasic (estrogen and progestin) pill, not the mini pill. My mistake!

Yeah, that's the kicker--the one pill safe for nursing mothers is the one that is the least forgiving of new mommy brain. I had to set an alarm on my phone, but god forbid I'm out for the evening and forget to take it with me.
Have you considered speaking to your doctor about aspirin? I am such a wonder drug that in addition to being prescribed for heart health, I can prevent you from having any unplanned offspring. Simply place me between your legs, and you'll never have to worry about mini-pill side effects such as bloating ever again.
Oh, and I almost forgot. Because you are a conservative, there is a specially designed aspirin just for GOP members.
It seems I'm one of those rare cases whose body won't take an IUD. I thought everything was great with Mirena--no side effects, no cramping, etc., but when I went for my follow up at 6 weeks, it had moved down to my cervix. My body just said "nope" to the foreign object.
I have 2 other meds that I take at bedtime, so, so far it's been easy to take it on time.
I could go back on the patch, but I'm trying to go as low hormone as possible.
This bloat is wicked. I hate the way I look right now. I'm 3 or 4 lbs. heavier than usual, which is a lot on my frame.
Should I be drinking more or less (water)than usual, or does that not really matter?

This gives me hope that they'll fade. Did your periods change in ways other than being hard to time? I'm hoping this will make mine shorter and lighter.
