Curtains help

I am closing on a new house next week, the previous owners are leaving the curtains and rods (will be using at the very least my own curtains and possibly new rods or painting them) but I have a question about how they have them. I know the rule of thumb is "high and wide" but do you think they have the rods too high? Not sure whether to keep the same position and (obviously) have longer curtains to ground - not sure what they were thinking! or if that is way too high? It's the same in every window in the house. tia.

I would probably split the space between the window frame and the ceiling. Those seem a bit high. And waaaaay too short! More fullness would be nice, too. When the rod is wide, there should be fabric to the edge! Looks like they misunderstood what high and wide really means.

thanks, it's great to get second opinions. And if you can believe it, the curtains in my photo are probably the longest in the house... can anyone say floods! Big Smile

Rod position is quite high due to height of curtain. You can change curtain which will be with size of your window. What you think about it?

Apparently they read about hanging curtains high and wide and decided that meant as high as possible, with no regard to curtain length? If those curtains touched the ground I wouldn't mind the height of the rod, but umm, yeah. I think you either need to lower the rod or get longer curtains.
