Feet hurting during aerobics

I've been doing bootcamp and high intensity interval aerobics for the last month and I've noticed that my feet hurt at times and I have to stop and shake them off.  This happens during cardio, at the peak levels especially.  It's frustrating since my body can do the moves but my feet wont cooperate.  I don't know how to describe it but it's not numb pain  I guess it's like a cramp on both soles?  It just feels uncomfortable.  Does this go away as you get more fit?  I don't have this problem when I run.  I do have new crosstrainers for my classes that was fitted by a specialist.  Thought I'd ask this board and see if anyone else experiences it.

Re: Feet hurting during aerobics

  • If you have new, specially fitted shoes, then it's probably because you have been running and moving incorrectly for years and now you're doing it right. Your body has to get used to a whole new way or movement. See how you feel in a couple weeks.. If you're still hurting, I would suggest getting re-fitted in shoes or talk to a doctor about it.
  • The way your feet and ankles move in those types of classes are completely different than your normal daily walking and running.  You are going side to side, twisting, turning, jumping, etc.  Your body and feet just aren't used it yet.  Give it a few weeks and build up some strength and you should start to feel a little better.  I know if I take time off of kickboxing my ankles and feet feel a little sore as well.  If time doesn't help, I might suggest one size larger shoe.
