KT Tape? (for shin splints)

In a post below someone suggested using KT Tape for calf pain, and I posted a swaggle link to a daily deal for KT Tape.  I checked out their website and then searched for reviews.

I had shin splints all through HS track, and now I've got one that starting to nag my right leg.  In HS, my coaches using pre-wrap and tape, which helped enough to get me through meets.

Have any of you had any luck with using KT Tape for shin splints (or other injuries)?

Re: KT Tape? (for shin splints)

  • My husband just started using compression sleeves for his shin splints.  He said they are definitely helping matters.

I have only used KT tape for IT band issues and that made a huge difference.  Sorry!

  • Yea, I was thinking about compression sleeves as well.

Since I started the transition to barefoot running a couple months ago, my left shin splint that was starting has gone away.  I think I run heavy on my right side, though, so it's still giving me some problems.

  • I use KT tape for my knee - i do all my long runs with it. Pretty sure its one of the things that held me together this race season

  • I just got over a shin splint and used KT tape for it. It helped a bit. It was on the inner part of my shin (always get anterior/posterior mixed up) and the application for that was confusing to me. I tried it but it didn't seem to do much. So I tried the one with the one piece along the bone then cut the other in half and put one above and one below the sore spot. That seemed to work better for me. I've used it for my knees and my ankle before too. I just seem to have trouble getting it on correctly and getting it to stay on. I haven't tried the pro yet which is supposedly a lot better than the original.

    Hope this helps! :)
