Found a leash walking compromise w/R.
I've posted before that Renzo is AWFUL on a leash. TERRIBLE. We should have named him Zig Zag it had gotten so bad.
I finally resigned myself to him never ever walking on a loose leash. Now, I take his leash that is attached to his gentle leader and tie the leash around my waist. He has to stay by my side and my arms don't get tired from holding on to an always taut leash. Last night it was going well but then he tried to zig to the right and I stepped on a couple of his toes. :-( :-( :-( He quickly figured it out after that!
I hadn't tried this method before because I was SO stuck on getting him to walk like an angel on the leash! I feel a little like I've given up on him but we both get exercise this way (versus just not going on walks because I would almost end up in tears every time...I'm a little sensitive when it comes to Renzo).
*shrug* He is definitely my special snowflake! :-)

Don't feel bad, I've stepped on puppy toes before too - last time I did it, I pulled out little tuffs of white fur from her paws.
It just happens sometimes.

I know, they grow up way too quickly! I may need to start seriously looking into finding the doggy fountain of youth soon.
