Getting rid of syrup stain??

Hi! I'm new here- I just joined the Nest a month ago or so. We just bought a house and I've been over at the Buying A Home board. We moved in last week and have been spending most of our time cleaning. The sellers left the house quite dirty.

I've been trying to get rid of a syrup stain in one of the cupboards without luck. Every time I walk by the cupboard, I smell the syrup Ick!

What's the best way to get rid of it?

Thanks!

Re: Getting rid of syrup stain??

  • Take everything out of the cupboard and determine if the syrup is still stuck on the bottom of bottles or boxes.  Mix equal amounts of hot water and white vinegar add a few drops of dish soap.   Wipe down all surfaces.   The cupboard, the bottles and boxes etc  Leave cupboard door open and let dry fully before returning contents.  This is usually 12 to 24 hours.
  • We tried that and got the stains out, hopefully the smell will be gone too! Thanks.
