f/o to eyeliner for newbies/tinted moisturizer

So I bought the Maybelline Eye Studio gel liner after some of you rec'd it.  It is sooo much easier than the pencil I had tried before (I had a lot of issues with the pencil skipping...).  This goes on smooth and is easy to direct.  So far no smudging, and when I went a little too far it came off easily with a q-tip and eye makeup remover.  DH likes the look (and he's pretty honest when I try something that doesn't work), so I think this might become part of my routine.

ETA: When I finished I wiped the brush with a tissue and put the little plastic thing back over it.  Is there's anything special I should be doing for brush care? (or do I just wash it once a week when I wash my other brushes?)

Thanks!

oh! I'm also trying out the Physician's formula tinted moisturizer that was mentioned on the board.  I'm on the fence.  I like that it feels light and that it has SPF 50  b/c I have fair skin, and it's pretty sensitive (I burn really easily).  I'm concerned that it's a little too dark... but that might not be a prob when I get a little sun.

I also tried it under the bare minerals I usually use, but I feel like by the end of the day the powder mixed with the moisturizer under my eyes and made the creases I'm starting to get there more obvious.  So maybe that's an either/or situation? Or I should use less moisturizer there? Or maybe it just feels cakey to me because I'm not used to it?

I really like the fairly light BM - it matches my skin almost perfectly (the fair is too light).  Is there a drug store brand that is similar?  I tried l'oreal true match, but it's too pink or something. Maybe I just got the wrong one.

  • Cool!  I'm glad you like the eye studio!  I love it!  I wondered the same thing about the brush and I do just what you did, and then clean with my makeup brushes.  I loved the PF tinted moisturizer, but it was too dark for me :(  I wish they would make a lighter shade, because it's an awesome product otherwise.  I didn't have that issue with the powder and moisturizer making creases, and I did use powder with it.  I just use a cheapo drugstore pressed powder.  Maybe try not using the powder under your eyes?

  • Thanks Go_Dawgs! I was trying to use the powder for a little extra dark circle coverup, but maybe if I'm using the moisturizer I need to stick to a liquid concealer.

I do wish the tint was lighter.  I have to be really careful about blending to keep from getting a line.  I usually get a little darker in the summer, even with sunscreen, but it seems counterproductive to get a tan so that I can wear a moisturizer with spf 50.
