What kind of vinegar used for cleaning?

And please share what you clean with it and your measurements for your solution for each cleaning job. I need to figure out how many spray bottles of what concoction to make and how to label them.  Tia

Re: What kind of vinegar used for cleaning?

  • I use white vinegar, and I've gotten my measurements/recipes from here:

     http://goodwifeinthekitchen.blogspot.com/2009/07/go-green-green-cleaning.html

     And some tips from here:

As for spray bottles, I have used some new ones, but I've also used up an old cleaner, and re-used the empty bottle (washing it first, and I've never re-used a bottle that had bleach in it).

  • I use white vinegar for cleaning. Shower / Tub cleaner -12 oz of Dawn liquid soap and 12 oz vinegar, gently mix together in spray bottle ( don't shake too much). It's the best shower cleaner and gets the soap scum off glass shower doors easily!

  • My husband who is an eco-cleaner uses basically white vinegar, baking soda, Dr. Bronner's and distilled water in various combinations. He says the distilled water works better than tap water.
  • My very favorite all purpose cleaner is one I make myself.  It's 4 Tbsp white vinegar, 1 Tbsp borax, 1/2 C isopropyl alcohol, and HOT water to fill a 32 oz sprayer.  Has to be super hot for the borax to dissolve.  Then I add 15 drops of lemongrass essential oil, and 1 drop of green and 1 drop of yellow food coloring.  I call it "Mean Green Clean!"  (Yeah, I'm a dork).

I do lightly color the cleaning products I make so I can easily tell them apart.

  • Hey alissa, the goodwifeinkitchen is really nice blog? Thanks for the link.
