1st HM complete- RR :)

I'm more of a lurker but the board has been helpful with inspiration and answering the occasional question.

 

I trained for 13 weeks- occasional cut back weeks, ran three times a week 4.6 miles, then a LR on the weekends.  Did two 11 mile runs.  Tapered with 11 miles being two weeks ago, and a seven mile run last weekend.  Prior to the race I'd been running 1.5 - 2 years- sporadically.  Sometimes 12 miles a week, sometimes less, sometimes I'd take two months off.

 

Yesterday's HM was HILLY!  We gained 150 feet in elevation in the first three miles, then the rest was rolling hills.  The last three miles were relatively flat but then there was no tree coverage/shade and it was getting hot!  I finished in 2:19:10, and my goal was 2:20!  I was thrilled.  A friend has an HM PR of 2:07 and she finished in 2:27 due to the hills and heat.   I never walked and felt strong the whole way.  

 

The course was beautiful and the race well run.  It wasn't too big- about 2000 I think.  It was lots of fun!  Thanks to everyone!
