As a result of these updates, members of the Nest Community will need to change their password in order to continue participating in the community. Sewing Machine Trouble Shooting?

I was using a foot I've never used before (the gathering foot). My needle broke so I took the foot off replaced it and put in a new needle. The needle broke again. Now it appears that something is off. My machine has a needle threader and when you pull that down it hits on the shaft that holds the foot down. I'm not sure if the needle arm (making that term up) is now too low or the shaft that holds the foot on is not in the correct spot.
I have a husquvarna viking emerald 183
Any ideas?
