Keep or return these cropped pants?

I've been looking for ankle-length black pants, but I haven't found any that that fit right (I tried the Minnies, but they didn't work at all).  I bought these at Loft yesterday for 30% off.  They're more cropped than I wanted, but they fit and they're comfortable.  They are slightly more fitted on me than on the model and I'm pretty thin.  The description calls them "casual," but I'd wear them to work with heels or flats.  Also, the photos make the legs looked slightly flared, but I think they're cut straight.  Is the length weird?

Sorry I couldn't PIP.

Re: Keep or return these cropped pants?

  • The length on the model is weird.  Models tend to be very skinny and she does not look very skinny in those pants.
  • I have a similar pair in black from a couple of years ago. They are pretty fitted on me which is not what the website picture conveys. I love them. They are extremely versatile and I get compliments on them when I wear them. If they fit on you in the same way, I would definitely keep them.
  • I don't like the length.  I prefer a cropped pant to a Capri, which cuts most everyone off at an unflattering part of the leg.

Try the cafe Capri (name is deceiving) from J. Crew.  They're my favorite.

  • I think that the most important thing to look at is WHERE the pants stop on you. If the pants cut you off at one of the wider points on your leg, like where your calf muscle is the largest, I would return them. You want pants, shorts, skirts, etc. to cut off at the thinner parts of your body to make you look smaller, longer, and leaner. Having said that, I think an ankle length cropped pant is more now, anyway. The pant you linked is more of a traditional capri pant.

    Hope that helps!

  • I don't like them, they seems outdated to me. I think it's the length and the slight flare at the bottom.

This is my concern exactly.  They cut off right below my calf, and I think I'd rather have an ankle length pant.  Plus, while I was wearing them today, they seemed to stretch out a bit.  I think I'm going to return them. Thanks, everyone, for your advice!

If this is true, there is NEVER any hope for me, lol.
