Promotion BBQ

Hey ladies,

I am heading to a Officer Promotion at their house, he is promoting to a Major- it is 80 degrees here. Shorts and a nice tank with cute sandals good? I am sorry if this seems stupid but we are a low enlisted couple so I want to make sure I am not under dressed.

I would definitely go with a casual dress or skirt, unless it was emphasized that it's VERY casual.

Yep, I wouldn't bust out shorts for a Major's promotion.

I agree. Our squadron BBQ? Shorts for sure (appropriate of course). A promotion BBQ I'd at least wear some nice capri's if not a skirt/dress. Though I'm NOT a dress person (besides Maxi's) so I'd probably be in some nice capri's, a nice blouse and cute matching sandals/wedges. Link to possible capri's

I would wear about 25% of my shorts, because those shorts are a 5 inch inseam and are from JCrew or Lands End. I wouldn't wear my short shorts from F21 or AE. I think people will be there in shorts. I would only wear a tank if it were not at all revealing (no cleavage or errant bra straps).

Skirt or nice capris with a short-sleeved blouse. I would not wear a tank.

I think I would probably do capris or dress bermuda shorts if you don't want to go with a dress or skirt. If you want to do sleeveless I would do thicker straps. I know there are some cute styles out there right now that are quite modest and I would even wear to teach school in. Have fun!

Is it a promotion party or to celebrate selection? Major select lists for af came out a few days ago. Personally, a bbq is casual, regardless the reason for it. But, I also live in a very casual world. When we throw h's promotion party, we'll expect it to be as casual as we are. I was in korea laser year when the selection list came out, and all we did was go to a bsr, just like normal

I went with a teal blue ruffled top and nice shorts that don't show the booty and nice sandals and I fit right in. He sewed on Major today and their family is pretty casual which is good. Everyone minus his wife was wearing jeans or shorts.
