Anyone pull anything today?
I hadn't talked to my Mom all week so I called her this afternoon and told her that we had a really stressful week - Mark had gotten a job offer from the international insurance group at work and it was such a huge pay hike we decided to go for it... but we had to move to Japan for the next two years.
She ended up handing the phone off to my Dad, so I did the whole thing again for him. They were both asking all these questions like, What are you going to do with the house? (We're going to call a realtor this week and see about renting it while we're gone.) What about your job? (I'll quit and get a job teaching English while I'm there.) If you have kids there, will they get dual citizenship? (I don't know, we hadn't thought that far ahead yet.)
I let it go for about 45 minutes before saying April Fools. They were trying so hard to be supportive/encouraging but my Dad was totally having a heart attack. It was fantastic.
Re: April Fools?
I saw yours Caitlyn. But I didn't see the backfire. Maybe I should go back and read...
I checked Google this morning, but everything looked normal there. Did they do a good one this year and I just didn't figure it out?
It was more in the number of likes than the actual thread. I got 30 'likes' or something. I'm not sure how many knew it was an AFD prank.
I didn't look on google, but our radio station got a few gullible people really good. They said that Kenny Chesney and Tim McGraw were coming to our home town and then started giving away 'tickets'. I didn't believe it for a second, but quite a few people phoned in.
This has been cracking me up all day.

I haven't got anyone (I really think most April Fools pranks are mean spirited and I don't get into it very much) but Will thought I was pranking him when I told him I'm going to make an effort to not eat out for the month of April. I know Will's got something up his sleeve because I've been relegated to the bedroom for the foreseeable future.

I had some good plans, but didn't end up with enough time to pull them off.
I just was totally fooled. David's cousin's (the one that got married in February) wife's facebook is getting blown up with pregnancy related posts from family. I called and they answered the phone with April Fools. So hilarious to watch it play out on facebook. I can't tell if his mom (David's aunt) is in it on it or if she thinks its real! She made her own status about being a grandma hahahaha so terrible
Good one, Kate!
I always think of my grandfather, who got me for like 5 years straight at the breakfast table telling me there was a cow/horse/puppy/goat, etc. in the front yard
Here's a good Disney one:
Under the Sea with Little Mermaid - Broken Pipe Floods Disney's New RideAnaheim, California - Disney California Adventure theme park suffered a major setback early Sunday morning when a pipe was damaged after a pump failure. No injuries were reported but the accident allowed water to flood the recently completed Little Mermaid ride.
Officials were still trying to piece together what happened but it appears that a damaging "water hammer" pressure wave occurred when a pump motor lost power. This was during normal circulation from the Paradise Pier lagoon to the Grizzly River Run storage reservoir.
The Little Mermaid ride was built below ground level to allow guests to experience the sensation of going below the water surface. Unfortunately the ride was near the burst pipe and the entire lower section of the ride was flooded under 5 feet of water. There are dozens of animatronic figures in this area which were also submerged.
"Fortunately this happened at night when the ride was not operating", said Disney technician named Eric King. "I and one of my co-workers went down there in a boat to see if the animatronic figures could be salvaged. But they were almost all under water and we could not disconnect any of them."
The ride "Little Mermaid: Ariel's Undersea Adventure" officially opened at Disneyland Resort on June 3, 2011. There is a similar ride under construction at Walt Disney Resort in Orlando, Florida. Disney imagineer Michael Sebastian said that his team is already at work reviewing construction in Florida to see if a similar event could occur there.
According to Mr. Sebastian, imagineers are looking closely at the materials of construction used in the pump casing. The pump was built by Triton pump company. The pump company's public relations director Ariel Singer said, "I am speechless".
