What's with these activist judges, thinking they can legislate where I go?

The 10th Circuit Federal Court has just issued a permanent injunction on a 2010 Oklahoma law that would require all women terminating their pregnancies to first undergo a mandatory ultrasound. The news, which is no doubt welcome to the women in and around Oklahoma who will no longer have to endure the added financial stress and emotional pressure of an unwanted, medically-unnecessary ultrasound, also sets up what is likely to be the next big battle -- this time, before the Supreme Court.
With the 10th Circuit ruling that it "is an unconstitutional special law because it addresses only patients, physicians and sonographers dealing with abortions and does not address them concerning other medical care," while the 5th Circuit rules that mandatory ultrasounds are constitutional in Texas, the only way to resolve the conflicting rulings is an appeal to the highest court.
Lawyer and reproductive rights author Jessica Mason Pieklo states:
"Today's decision in Nova Health Systems v. Edmonson represents an important win for women and health care practitioners across the state of Oklahoma and affirms the right of women to make critical health care decisions without unnecessary and demeaning intrusion and oversight by the state."
"However," she warned, "it also represents yet another avenue for anti-abortion advocates to further chip away at the protections guaranteed by Roe v. Wade by pressing an appeal through the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals."
The Oklahoma case, which was argued by Center for Reproductive Rights on behalf of Nova Health Systems, has been in court since the bill was first passed by overriding a veto by Oklahoma Governor Brad Henry, who worried the bill was unconstitutional and would cost the state too much money to defend

Re: oh no! the courts blocked an ultrasound bill!
Why are the courts even wasting their time on this when there are so much more important things to focus on?
I feel for you, Wanda Cam. My own court experience did not work out in my favor either. Obviously they're biased towards women.
you know a doc would do this anyway, right? They have to know where they are going, where the baby is and how far along the mother is. Its a non issue.
If you choose to end a life this way then put on the big girl panties and deal with it.
actually they don't need to do a transvaginal ultrasound.

Oh you silly, silly girl.
If on this were an April Fools joke...
If only these hors had kept those panties on they wouldn't find themselves in need of an abortion, amiright??
That's pretty much the consensus of the "Catholic weddings" board on The Knot.

WHy do women always have to keep their legs close but men don't have to keep their snake in their pants?

I don't understand the confusion because it's simple:
Men's sexual urges are natural at all times. It's the biological drive to procreate and - let's be honest - this explains and kindasortamaybe excuses the urge to rape.
Sexual urges in women are completely unnatural and evidence of their wee lady brain tendencies toward whorishness. But, miracle of miracles, their biochemistry changes upon marriage. At the moment of the vow, something magical happens and suddenly women should want to hump their husbands constantly, including only minutes are giving birth. When they don't want constant sex, it's evidence of their wee lady brain tendencies toward frigidity.
Have I cleared things up for everyone?
I totally thought it was, I didn't look at the time stamp. I couldn't figure out why people were being so harsh. I thought it was a brilliantly spot-on AE.
Thanks. I'm surprised I can read this.

See, what is killing me isn't the "keep your panties on" bit. I guess I'm not surprised this particular poster believes that.
What kills me is the ignorance regarding the medical issues surrounding this controversial topic. No. Docs don't NEED to do this sort of U/S to perform the procedure.
That was my first response. You don't need a transvaginal US to perform an abortion. Just be pressing on my belly my OB was able to figure out I was 8 wks pg.

Because women are whores.
It bothers me that the politicians pushing these bills may not understand this because I would think that understanding a medical procedure before trying to legislate it would be helpful. However, I'm not actually surprised by the ignorance, which I think in many cases is willful.
